EMM has a limp, Roger Mayweather has diabetes, Floyd Sr has lung problems, Diaz has eye problems.

Many great trainers have some sort of disability, but they don't let that impact their greatness in training.

I don't feel sorry for them, they don't feel sorry for themselves. I hope Freddie maintains enough health to train for however long he wants.

I was only using your post because quoting the other one that caught my eye would have been just too obvious.

Come on KK.I know you know me better than that.
Stop and think about who's posting.:yep:think

Scientifically unsound reasoning there bub. Try telling the receptors in your brain that your degree of suffering from factor a is worse than that of someone from factor b. Anxiety is anxiety and pain is pain no matter the lifestyle.

Freddie is the kind of guy who is too man enough to feel sorry for himself.
He trains guys and he commentates on fights. He's fine. Ali is still alive and he is way older.
Freddie will be fine. Plus,Pac loves the guy and would take care of him if anything happened.

Well I don't really thnk if you feel sympathy for somebody.. You immediately have to compare them with somebody worse. In this world, if you find one person doing poorly, I bet you can find somebody else doing even more poorly, and so on and so forth.
Thing is it's not just about wealth. How many financially poor people are living in 3rd world countries and don't comtemplate suicide... Meanwhile a rich athlete commits suicide? It's obvious in this world it's more about your perspective on your life than it is the circumstances in your life.
Taking the factory worker you made an example of. Things like that are so, but perhaps that guy goes home every night to his wife, and kids, has a relationship with god, etc.
Some of these rich people die all alone, and while there on there death beds they don't ask there bank account balance... They ask for there families (maybe family that isn't there for them anymore). The poor factory worker will die, but perhaps he will die with a loving family, and hope that there is a great afterlife for him.
Not saying this is Freddie Roach (I doubt it will be), but just cuz somebody is financially well off doesn't mean much. Time goes by pretty fast, and they can't take the $ with them to the grave.

That's a good point. I'm sure Pac will help him out, as well as a lot of other people he's trained with.

Seeing him degenerate slowly over the years is definetly hard to watch.
The FACT that his life is always in the eye now further puts it right in our face.

Anyone else think when Manny calls it a career that Roach will also hang 'em up?

if you felt bad about him in that moment, you'd feel even worse after watching the on freddy roach series. on another note, he's a pretty sad figure, but he's still unbelievably successful and doing what he loves. i'm sure he smiles way more than the average parkinson's patient. that being said, i'd rather be joe schmo, without parkinson's, than a world class trainer and multi millionaire, with parkinson's.

I feel sorry for him just the fact that after he can't train boxers properly he doesn't have a family to look after him and see his kids grow up, he could still commentate and stuff but u need them other things in life too

When he was like "what am I supposed to do" or whatever when it gets so bad he won't be able to come in, that was pretty sad.

His injuries are the result of his quest for a world title. He came up short, but gave his true calling a greater shot than most men. He seems to enjoy his life, but does look outside of himself for fulfillment. Many hyper-competive guys have a hard time dealing with life without an immediate challenge. Hopefully Freddie adapts rather than succumb to depression.

Roach got to live the highlife doing what he enjoys most in this woprld and getting paid for it, something that 99.9% of people on earth never get to do. He achieved his dream, can't feel sorry a man that has gotten nearly everything he wanted out of life.
