I agree. I want to see Pavlik fight Dirrell or Stevenson before talking about fighting one of the top 3.

You and I agreeing Tito! Wonders will never cease!

I think people are expecting far too much of the guy right now.I don't think he should go near a top TEN guy until he gets another two fights and some rounds under his belt.
To lose those peak years can be devastating.People like Leonard are by far the exception, not the rule.
I really would try to get some specialists in to see if there's any way he can get back to 160.Very difficult, but I think it's Kelly's only chance to get back near the top.

I think Pavlik should stay clear of a guy like Dirrell. Too much speed, athleticism and his power is legit for a 168 #er. All wrong.

But I do think Stevenson would be a right proper step up. If he can;t get past him, then he wasn;t really destined to do much at 168 anyway. If he can, he's got a legit shot at a title.

Now he may very well go on and lose to Froch, but he'd end up losing out to the clear #2 of the division. No shame there. Not a career ending sentence if you ask me, which you did not.

    I agree Des.:good
But wouldn't you agree some people have horribly underestimated what's actually happened with the guy and are expecting far too much too soon?

Oh yes. I was actually under the impression that they might decline this fight because it was too much too soon. Seems that Stevenson may not be enough of a leap for their taste I guess.

Personally, I think IF he takes the fight, and IF he beats Stevenson convincingly, he could roll with that into a fight with Froch.

Froch has gradually grown on me over the years, and I respect his skills and attitude in the fight game immensely, but, at the moment, I get the impression his recent performance has caused just a smidge of overcompensation for the years of underestimation.

    Well, didn't ask YOU.

Taylor landed a series of clean shots on a Pavlik whose hands were down before getting the KD. It only took Taylor ONE punch to floor Froch. How does that give Taylor the more proven chin?

given what he's done with his life and career over the past few years, pavlik is in no danger of silencing any critic.

get this can sigmon out of the way, knock out jr in a catchweight (he will if this happens) and then lets see what happens.

a 100% kelly pavlik would give froch fits. its blind hate to think otherwise. but he should earn the shot and he hasnt yet. he's being horribly underrated but he's certainly earned it.

Pavlik will have zero success at 168 or 175.

His advantages are at MW, and he loses most, if not all of them if he steps up to the weight above.

He may not reach the peak like at MW, but to me there's no reason to think he can't beat all but the top 5 or 6.

Abraham I'd agree with. Probably Stiglitz too.

He loses his size advantage, his strength and length advantages. He's a fighter who works behind the jab, and that will most likely be negated by the vast majority of bigger men that he'd face.

I think he'd lose to Sakio Bika.

Pavlik vs MaGee would be a very good fight for seeing what's what IMO.

It's certainly not blind hate.I like Pavlik but he has no really significant wins at 168 and has done nothing to suggest he can make a dent thus far.
I like when we see eye to eye.:good
He really should get a top nutririonist and S&C Physician/specialist to see if there's a way to get back down.
Like I said before it's the only chance he's got to get near to where he was. There has been nothing to suggest he can be a success at 168 never mind 175.
