Prime Tommy Hearns in today's era. How many Divisions can he clean out?

Hearns looked ok at 175 when he went there for 7 fights in his career.

 

Hearns would destroy anybody from 147-160. He'd still be a top fighter all the way up to 175.

 

3. . . 168 has too many skilled slick guys at 168 like dirrell, and ward of course. . then too many rugged, heavy hitters who are naturally larger, and just as tall like froch, kessler. . .

 

yeah, he'd prolly go 3-2 with the top five guys at 168, and maybe 2-3 with the top at 175.


his frame, and genetic makeup is the epitome of the "optimal boxing build" to allow a guy to go through weight classes.

 

it's crazy how being drained is such a viable excuse these days, when guys like tommy hearns could fluctuate between weights without any ill-effect. I know he was a superb athlete and had a unique body type, but it makes you wonder if that excuse is as legitimate as people make it out to be. he tko'd dennis andries at 175 and then dropped down to 160 to knock juan roldan out.

 

He destroys 147 and 154 handily. He beats Martinez and the top contenders at 160 as well.

At 168, I'd say he takes everyone other than Ward, who he is probably 50/50 with. At 175, Dawson is a 50/50 fight, too, but he can outbox everybody else.

 

guys, let's not forget that crude, although extraordinarily tough brawler iran barkley knocked him out. tommy hearns' chin was very, very questionable, so saying he cleans out 160 and above is not really a given. I don't think it's a stretch to suppose he gets ko'd along the way.

 

He aint beating Floyd or Ward so I cant vote you dont have that option

 

Yeah, I think he'd split fights with the bruisers at 168 like Kessler, and Froch. . .

 

A 5'8 Fighter who's Prime is at 135-140

Is gonna beat a 6'2 fighter who's almost as skilled (if not just as skilled) who's prime is at 147-154

in the 147-15 4 bracket. THAT'S what you are saying right?

Floyd got zero advantages on Tommy.

Styles make fights. Floyd got a much bigger chance of beating Sugar Ray then Tommy Hearns.


You obviously never seen a Hearns fight if you think Hearns can not out box Floyd as well at 147-154.

 

Not to mention if there is a Prime Hearns in today's division 147-154

Both Manny and Floyd have gone up like 6-8 divisions in about the same time span as Hearns. Floyd was just in the ammy's while Manny was in the pros. . .

Where pac is now, is equal to Hearns fighting at 175, or maybe even 200. . . They've both weighed in almost 40 pounds heavier than when they first started boxing. . . What was Hearns weighing in at when he fought at 200? About 185?

Anyone that thinks Hearns cannot beat Floyd loses all credibility whatsoever. If there is only 1 person that can beat Floyd it would be Hearns. Mayweather has nothing that would cause Hearns to lose.
