Tyson was infinitely more skilled, had better body movement, had a better boxing IQ, was much faster, better footwork, hit harder and was more unpredictable.

Vitali is...bigger.

Completely different levels of fighter. One is a genuine all time great, the other lost to the only great fighter he ever fought, who happened to be years past his best, and his best win is over a part time golfer.

I eagerly anticipate the sequel to this thread: 'Henry Armstrong or Junior Witter. Who was the better fighter?'. That should be good.

 

thats true about tyson, he lost against every great fighter by KO or was schooled, also ktfo by a jorneyman in his prime. :deal

 

at least vitali dominated byrd, than was injured. tyson was ktfo by a jorneyman!

 

He was totally out boxed by a C class opponent, not just ktfo. Not many have even taken a round off Vitali. :yep:happy

 

vitali was meant to take the torch from lewis, but still couldnt manage..
yet tyson did it with holmes and spinks in brutal fashion! holmes incidently being around the same stage as lewis at the time... and goin on to do very well after..

 

holmes was shot as hell who was retired before the fight, and spinks is a fockin light heavywheit who was scared before the fight.

 

Tyson and Vitali both fought an aging great. The difference is, Lewis beat Vitali in 6 rounds and almost ended his career. Tyson destroyed Holmes.

Holmes was a much better fighter when he fought Tyson than Lewis was against Vitali.

 

Actually, Vitali broke his hand and had to quit even though he was ahead on the scorecards.

Lewis is better than any version of Holmes imo

 

holmes fought spinks 18 months before, plus he had a 15 round exebition match inbetween, and he talked before the fight of training for tyson for months.
so he was just as active as lewis.
he also went on to beat mercer and give a good account of himself with prime holy ect, so to say he was shot is a little stupid.
