I know a lot of ESB posters, and boxing fans in general aren't all that supportive of MMA, but I gotta hear some opinions on this one from hardcore boxing fans.
If he can learn takedown defense, he'll be in good shape as he'll have better technique punching-wise than most strikers in MMA and he already has a really good chin. It'll be tough for him to manage though at his age.
Wish him the best. He entertained me with his run in boxing, he was obviously not the best skilled boxer you'd come across, but he had heart.
That FNF with Rodriguez was the first time I saw him fight, and **** he is a tough dude. But in all honesty he won't make any waves in MMA, although when he starts fighting his way up through local shows, some bums are gonna get starched something fierce. Will be fun to watch at first.
yeah i think so to. but he is a guy i would think make some movement in a mma fight. but it wont be successful im sure of.
Good luck to him & hope he takes it seriously. A lot depends on how well he can learn Takedown defense, some like Mirko Cro Cop grasped it pretty quickly but not everyone can.
Why are some of you people shitting on the man for trying to make a few dollars? I never understood this, he brought us entertainment.. we should respect his ways.
I agree. . . He made it further than 99.9% of boxers who will ever lace 'em up will. . . Gave us good fights, put his heart on his sleeve.
Exactly. It's not like the guys shitting on him are gonna pay his bills. I never did get the animosity considering both are combat sports, these guys would probably rather watch **** like Basketball, NFL, or some other sleep inducing ball sport but not me. Give me MMA or Kickboxing/Thaiboxing, Wrestling, or Grappling any day over that ****. Anyways I hope Pawel makes something out of this move, would be good to see a decent Boxer give it a shot.
I like MMA, the cards are better since they are building up their brand, UFC, and not an individual fighter so you don't get the mismatches that you see in boxing PPV undercards. Having said that you can lay and pray, wall and stall and be succesfully, alot harder in Boxing though guys like Ward, Hopkins and Molina do their own versions of those MMA strategies.
Pawel is a Wrestler/MMA guy turned boxer and now back to MMA. He initially was training for MMA and went to a Boxing gym to work on his stand up game but fell in love with boxing and stuck with it for several years all while working a day job in construction. He was a late starter in Boxing and made it fairly far with the tools he had.
