Lee Muratgh has been stopped in his last two figjts ,should he really be allowed box for the Irish title,
All for more Irish ttile fights but this is eriously taking the **** when the likes of Joe rea is ready willing and able to take the challenge.
Also how long since Lee boxed at light middle? Not having a go at Lee just the situation that allows him to fight for our national crown.

Personally I think Lee is a worthy contender. He has put up a good show against bigger men and I wish him the best of luck.

Emerald have promised Joe Rea a shot at the first defence and I am happy enough at that.

As said not getting at Lee but the fact that he has lost his last two by stoppage should be enough to alarm but add in the fact he hasnt done this weight in a long while and it really shouldnt happen,
id be interested to know who you thought was less deserving recently though?

not having a go at you Puca but you are saying Joe Rea should get a shot ahead of Murtagh (I would gain personally if he did, so you cant call me biased in favour of Murtagh) but Rea had a fair string on losses on his record going into Prizefighter himself - and is coming off a loss as well.

I like the fight. Good test for Hillerby and Murtagh is always pumped up for Irish titles and takes these fights VERY serious.

The undercard aint looking too shabby either.

As for "less deserving" - I am not saying he wasnt deserving but Colin Kenna was coming off the back of 5 losses and 3 straight KO's when he fought Collie Barrett for the Heavyweight title.

Look i actually know Lee and like him but a lad coming off stoppage losses should not be put up for a 10 round fight.IT PUTS HIS HEALTH AT RISK,Lee will be fit and ready im sure but that doesnt make it right,
Rea hasnt been stopped in his last two thats all im saying therefore he is a better fit,
As to Colin kenna that didnt end too smart either,My arguement isnt about Lee Murtagh its about protection that should be put in place to look after the fighters.
And yes the undercard looks good Moffet/cruise healy/donnellan and Cacace/griffin all look like your beter than average undercard Irish fights.

I think Murtagh has a fairly good chance at this , his looses are to much bigger men and is a good test for Hillerby , as for his health , the stoppages wernt bad , he didnt take any sustained beatings in those fights

Mickey Coveney had two Ko losses a win and then the Irish title
John Waldron was Kod before his Title Fight with Healy
Ciaran Healy lost twice Before fighting Spike
Kevin Phelan had a loss befor fighting Jim Rock
Michael Alexander had 6 losses befor fighting Rock
Rocky Mcgran had a loss before fighting Storey
Michael Monagan had a loss befor Macklin
Neil Sinclair had a loss before Coyle
Alan Gray had a loss before Jim Rock

For the record i never said Muratgh didnt have a chance in this fight my argument was and still is that a guy coming off 2 stoppage losses and who hasnt fought at the weight since 2008 shouldnt be considered for a 10 round fight in the interest of safety.
The card does look very interesting though. What is the venue like?

Good first post friend, you know your stuff, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that Muratgh has been getting bashed up in recent fights, and should be looking at retirement as opposed to wanting to fight a young gun like Hillerby.

The venue is called The Emerald House, a bit bigger than The Holiday Inn and seats around 400 to 500 punters [thats a guess on my part]. I'm looking forward to this show and am hoping it doesn't clash with my caravaning holiday otherwise....:verysad. I had a good night there last time and no doubt this will be an even better night.
