Yes bowe did beat tyrell biggs one fight before Lennox lewis. That was after 31-0 garry mason (who lennox lewis knocked out) had already beaten tyrell biggs one round quicker than bowe did two years earlier. Biggs was rated in the ring magazine from 1986-1987 and he fought lewis and bowe back to back in 1991 when he was on the skids as a fighter.

Mismatch for Bowe. Rock Newman knew it. Lewis doesn't get nearly enough credit. The guy would have been undefeated in his career if he possessed some kind of chin. There's no way Bowe could have won by decision, even a prime Bowe. Bowe really only beat Holyfield when Holyfied tried to brawl him. Lewis is the more disciplined, more complete fighter.

Lewis's shaky chin would be a huge factor in this fight.
I feel Bowe had more polished boxing skills. I mean
Youre entitled to your opinion, but a mismatch?
No way, I dont think a prime or peak Bowe would
be mismatched against any heavy. Honestly I could
see Lewis winning a round and getting cocky, and
dropping his hands and paying for it. Yes Lewis
Bombed out superheavies impressively, but a shot
Ruddock, a shot Biggs, technically inferior Grant,
Botha, and post bowe Golota are no where near
a peak Bowe. The aforementioned guys had inferior
jabs.with the exception of Biggs who was past it, and Golota.
Impressive wins nonetheless, Lewis never faced anyone
near a prime Bowes talent. Bruno, gave Lewis fits,
and I feel Bruno's jab wasnt as good as Bowes.
I believe they both had dicipline problems.
But feel free to prove me wrong, you make a
valid argument about Newman, I was puzzled
when Bowe threw the belt in the garbage, but
with the corruption, money and contract issues
one never knows. I do admire the agressive modes
of Lewis and Bowe, however in a brawl I favor
Bowe. Now go comment on my slowly dying
Kid Gavilan vs SRL thead! haha. Peace

Thats a really good point. I never thought of that side of it. I guess both guys regressed from that big fight that never happened. Lennox was disiplined enough to get back on track and fullfill his potential and Riddick Bowe wasnt.

Thats whay Lennox Lewis should and will go down as the much greater fighter.

Lennox. Lennox would have won the fight before bell even rang as I truly believe Bowe was afraid of Lennox.

When you say more polished boxing skills, is that 93 Bowe Vs 93 Lewis or Prime for prime? also I may have to bump that gavilan SRL thread. Don't know much about Gavilan but hopefully I can get some good info by closely watching it :tong

Riddick Bowe, talented no doubt, but really had a lousy career compared to Lewis. Bowe was shot by the time he was 29 and was beaten to a pulp twice by Golota, a guy whom Lewis destroyed months later. Lewis had a brilliant career on the other hand and really laid the blueprint for heavyweight fighting nowadays with the philosophy of Manny Steward.

In my opinion, 93 and Prime Bowe had slightly better
technical skills and a better inside game than Lewis.
Why would Bowe be afraid of Lewis? When i finally
saw the olympic match I was like wtf? The way people
talked about it I expected Bowe to be knocked out
Cold on a stretcher, thats not the way it went down
at all. Lewis had imo an atg jab and right hand, and
Bowe imo a better jab and atg uppercut and top tier
overhand right. You can certainly argue who had better
technique, they are very close in my opinion. I believe
this fight ends on the inside however. Honestly I
enjoyed Lennox as a commentator and Bowes pre
fight antics. Two dynamic personalities imo.
Its odd people Lewis had problems with Bowe wouldn't
and people that gave Bowe truble Lewis would
    demolish.

Had the fight happened in 93 as it had been contractually agreed to I would have favoured Lewis.

By 93 Bowe had already become ill disciplined and gained weight from the version that had beaten Holyfield. The 93 Lewis that beat Tucker would have been too much for this heavier slower Bowe. Lewis would beat Bowe to the punch and have no problem landing hard shots regularly against the slow footed and easy to hit Bowe.

Bowe didn't like movement and his jab was overated. If Holyfield had no problems jabbing and boxing with Bowe then Lewis, even the younger less refined Lewis would box circles around him.

And Bowe never faced anyone near Lewis's talent. However ruddock, Grant, shannon Briggs, david Tua and Golata were talked of as future champions when meeting Lewis. madison square garden had a ticker tape celebration booked for grant to beat Lewis but was put through the canvas. They still went through with it but grant was suposed to deliver America the title. Bowe did not face anyone regarded as a future champion. sure riddick beat the smaller holyfeild in great fights but so did Lewis.

The answer is that Bowe always got hit too much and that would be a disaster against Lennow who was a monster in big fights when motivated .. I see Lennox by a stoppage earlier than later .. there is a reason Team Bowe threw away a belt rather than fought Lennox ...
