Uhm, the ancient Egyptians may not have been "white", but they weren't black africans either. There are quite a few well preserved mummies around that have been analyzed to give us a pretty good idea of what they looked like. They weren't north european that's for sure, but they looked like people do around the mediterranean/Middle East. If I recall correctly, one pharaoh even had red hair (doesn't mean much - it's a genetic peculiarity that can pop up in uncommon places) I don't say this to knock Africa or black African culture - I've spent much time around Africans and love their approach to life. Those are just the facts.

Don't know what history books you been reading, but I can guarantee you the ancient egyptians were black, I've been to egypt twice in my life, have seen the museums in cairo, have seen the graves in Luxor and have spent time being guided by fair skinned egyptologist and there is no doubt that the majority of egyptians during that time was DARK SKINNED (BLACK). Erh, the Vatican has not been around for thousands of years. Jesus himself died less than 2000 years ago and the Bible which includes the new testament was established at the council of Nicea a couple hundred years after his death. Futhermore, the Vatican does not control all of Christianity - a lot of Christians are orthodox, Protestant, Anglican etc. and do not recognize the authority of the Pope.
