Why was Roy Jones never a huge ppv star?

    He the fighter of the decade,exciting and p4p#1 but NEVER a huge p4p star why??

    **** undercards & bad opponents the 168 class was weak.
    (At least those Roy was willing to fight)

    But mostly Garbage undercards.
    Can only watch Derrick Gainer so many times.

    lack of opponents and the fact he didn't have a major promoter hurt him i feel. those of you that don't live in the states need to understand that jones was never a big crossover star in the sporting world here. he had his most fame here after the ruiz victory. that fight did over 600K ppv buys. not bad, but not on de la hoya, tyson and mayweather level.

    Well he was in the same era as Oscar, Holyfield, Chavez, etc. and they had the big promotion and the big marketing ability.

    Roy was in a crap division without a big promoter

    He blew too many guys away. Hard to plunk down money for a foregone conclusion.

    I'm sure he made plenty of money off his Reebok deal, though. Those commercials were everywhere.

    yes, good point on him destroying guys. reebok? i think you mean jordan brand. i don't recall jones being with reebok.

    Yeah but Tyson is a heavyweight and Floyd and Manny had Oscar as a dance partner.
