You can't look at it like that, it's revisionist history. Taylor in 2008 was still a force, and the favorite to beat Froch and carry his success up to smw. Pavlik started his decline, but Froch really got it rolling. AA finished it. But do you really think Taylor would lose to Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell or Richie Woodhall? They were decent fighters, but that's about it. Taylor was a world class athlete. A prime Eubank would probably beat him, but not that version, not at 168. A prime Reid would be a toss up. In AA-Taylor, Taylor was losing on the cards, but it was close enough that had it not been in Germany he had a chance at the decision. He was not dominated. The KO ended all that though. I'd say Bute is a better win than Lacy. Much for the same reasons. But they are both highly ranked wins.
Taylor had no business fighting at 168, the fact that he's now back at 160 proves this. a 2005 Jermain Taylor is easily better than Carl Froch, and would school him handily. A 2008 Jermain Taylor clearly wasn't the same, and we saw how Carl Froch was able to catch up to him and stop him. Brewer, Mitchell and Woodhall were all former World champions. Also Brewer, Mitchell and Reid were all robbed agianst Ottke. I think those guys were solid, and can take Jermain Taylor into deep waters. Seeing the way Eubank took Calzaghe into deep waters shows he had a lot left, I'd back him to beat a 2008 Jermain Taylor. Robin Reid is underrated around here, he gives most SMW's in history a very tough fight. Seeing JT even in a close fight with someone as limited as AA is bad enough, Taylor is so much more talented. Seeing Taylor got brutally KO'd was horrible, and pretty much proved that he was finished. I don't see how Bute is a better win, they both look the same to me. Two undefeated champions, who got found out when they stepped up. All credit to Froch for getting the job done in a devastating fashion! If (hopefully) Bute can recover and go on to achieve a lot more in the game, then no doubt Froch's win over Bute will be better. But right now, I see both wins on the same level.
Taylor wasn't as good at 168 as he was at 160, but he was fine at the time, had a decent run going into the fight IIRC, and looked good and strong against Froch early. But he always ran out of gas and faded late. Seems it was worse at 168. Going back down to 160 at this time is pointless. I think he should hang em up, but hey, who am i? A lot of guys are former world champs. And, sorry to say, that seemed like a very weak period to me. (After Eubank and Benn and Jones Jr, etc.) Having watched the guys fight, IMO, their talents don't warrant the standing. Again, at the time it was AA who was the fave. Here he comes with his broken jaw, his long ass arms blocking everything and complaining about low blows, KOing guys left and right....... It was before he was exposed by the best guys in the division as being too small, and unable to pull the trigger when getting hit. Plus, I think at that point, Taylor was starting to doubt himself. If you remember, there was enormous concern about the fact that he had been KOd again, this time by Froch. Concern that he couldn't stay the pace in a 12 round fight, etc. IIRC, he looked extremely tentative in the AA fight. Both Froch and Calzaghe were underdogs, Calzaghe was simply too good for Lacy and Froch was simply too tough for Bute. The manner of victory, plus the standing that Bute had in the division(although he was rather protected). I feel he had beaten the opposition all favor Froch's victory, IMO. Lacy was a great win too. But he was crude, and had Calzaghe's true abilities in comparison been known, I don't think he would have been the favorite. It really was his coming out party.
- Dirrell whos biggest win was Oganov - Bute a good win - Abraham who didnt have a world title at SMW and did nothing at the weight, coming off a schooling. You mention titles but what was Abrahams top win? - Taylor who has done nothing at SMW and was 1-2 in his last 3 fights and was KOd in his next fight - Johnson who was a SMW journeyman, done nothing at the weight and has lost more at SMW than won Pascal who has done nothing at SMW. None of these fighters have SMW resumes as good as Mitchell, Lacy, Woodhall, Reid, Eubank, Kessler who Calzaghe beat and except for maybe Bute, dont have as good a SMW resume as Veit. All those listed here for Calzaghe have been SMW champs and Calzaghe beat Brewer who was a SMW champ also
all of them he has good support. same answer you disingeniously failed to read several posts ago, so i am afraid its impossible for me to answer your question as to why i cant answer when i already did lol u funny bloke. maybe you are living time in reverse to everyone else, is that why you keep asking whats already been said and done, because its the future for you? ignoring the bit that ignores what i write. fair play by me, i think. answered all your questions apart form this one - if you really need all the names of people i know down here who support Zaghes..god knows why you want there names though - bob, bill, jeff, mikkey, tom, joey, johnathan, ahmed, zeb, janice, william, benny, rob, nikky, tarquin, alisha, dave, Nef, Zed, Bran, Ed, Andy, Nick, Red, Danny, Guthri, Mohan, Nish, Egg, Bo, Jim, ******, Vinny, Nesta, Phil, Drew, George, Berth, Randall, Kelly, Kris, Nishta, Calvin, Veddy...yawn... I could go on but I am getting bored now....everyone can see you acheived nothing by asking me that. Maybe you want their mobile numbers too?
I did answer that earlier and have explained how Froch hasnt fought a SMW with the top resume of Eubank as an example and how Woodhall, Lacy, Reid, also all have better SMW resumes than Bute
come on bailey even you arent so stubborn as to ignore 'he had good support in all of them' forever. are you? why not? u asked for a set of peoples names who all disagree with you. Are you unhappy to learn that they all disagree with you? If you think these names are made up, if you genuinely cant accept that I was in pubs full of all these people all supporting Zaghes fights then I am afraid you may as well believe anything you want to believe. hang on, you already do. Finally, why do you define you losing both an argument and its landslide majority poll as you winning again?
Those who are choosing Froch are, probably in many cases, doing so because they are US posters who are trying to imply Ward is a superior fighter to Calzaghe. They need to get over the fact Calzaghe is the best SM of all time.
