He was really bad IMO. I can't think of any other titleholder getting so many gift decisions in his major fights. Starting from eliminator fight with Donald (though one can make a case for Bidenko being the 1st robbery) and ending at Holyfield.
Valuev will always have a special place in my heart for ending the John Ruiz era, even if I should really be thanking the judges
Primo Carnera was basically Valuev without a chin. Valuev's biggest asset was his good chin, Carnera went down every time his chin was lightly tapped.
I liked Valuev though i felt he lost some killer instinct near the end of his career on his way to the title he threw the right a lot and went for KO's in the chagaev fight he held back on his right and would **** the punch but not throw it he seemed gun shy in the Holyfield fight and some of his other bouts I thought he lost to Ruiz in fight 1, didnt see the whole 2 but thought Ruiz was ahead from what i saw I hated the Haye fight horrible fight, couldnt get through the Holyfield fight he had lots of controversy with his decisions tell me who you thought won these fights ESB posters Ruiz 1 Ruiz 2 Donald Holyfield Haye
Not as bad as advertised. For a giant without power, he developed a nice jab and could put together some scoring combos in spite of his slowness. His ring movement considering his level of fleshy encumbrance wasn't too shabby either. That said, in a heavyweight era with even halfway decent depth he wouldn't have been able to pick up a title on his size & OK jab alone.
