The discussion then concluded with a request for Ward to break down Saturday’s WBO welterweight title showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley.

“It’s tough to say," Ward said. "Timothy is a fighter I fought as an amateur at 147 pounds and he is a warrior. Timothy Bradley, one of his greatest assets is his mind. So I think it’s going to be a tough fight for Pacquiao.

“There’s always some drama in the Pacquiao camp. There’s always something about maybe he’s not training enough or possibly overtraining. I hear Alex Ariza, his longtime strength and conditioning coach, is at odds with Freddie Roach. That’s never good in a training camp.

“So all those different things collectively could come into play in the fight, and then once again, given Timothy Bradley’s mindset, he always comes in tip-top shape. There may be an upset brewing, and it may be in Timothy Bradley’s favor.”

I wonder who won? Hard to imagine Ward at 147 I think I remember he fought at 175 in the olympics?

I read somewhere else, that Ward said they fought at age 14 or 15, and it was one of the hardest fight he's ever had.

    Here's the exact quote:

""As far as my fight with Tim, I won but it was a grueling fight for both of us at 14 years old. Tough, tough match." - Andre Ward

Ward hasn't lost since aged 10. So Ward I should think.

Unless he fought him before age 13, Ward won. He hasn't lost since 1998.

Ward won, fight took place when they were both age 14 or 15.

Both are now 28. Fight took place 14 years ago!

    Neither do I? :huh

Thanks for clearing up who won!

It slipped my mind that Ward hadn't lost in THAT long?!

Timmy seemed to have always been relentless.....it would seem. I hope to see that quality in him tonight!

    It is, indeed.

A lot of people writing off Bradley. People don't understand how powerful the mind is;he's so determined right now. I can't remember the last time Pac someone fought someone as motivated to win as Bradley.

True. Margarito had the mental relentlessness, but not the skills. Marquez had the plan, but not the relentlessness. Let's hope Timmeh can put those two winning formulas together.

I was asking was Bradley fighting at 147 as an amateur but went down in weight as a pro.
They are of similar age so probably did fight when they were younger. Wonder why bradley didnt go to the olympics

Ah I see. Bradley fought as a high as 154 I believe, as an amateur.

Probably wasn't good enough. Bradley fought guys bigger than him in the amateurs - such as Angulo, Berto and Vanes (all who went life and death with him). If he had fought at 135 and 140 he might of had a better chance at competing in the ams. He was also trained by his father (up until 2001), who although is a great motivator and conditioning coach, isn't the best qualified to teach boxing skills imo - so that's probably why he lost out.
