IMO, combining both lists looks like this: 1. Jones over Toney 2. Jones over Hopkins 3. Mayweather over Castillo II 4. Mayweather over Corrales 5. Mayweather over Castillo I 6. Mayweather over Cotto 7. Jones over Ruiz 8. Jones over Hill 9. Mayweather over DLH 10. Jones over Tarver 11. Jones over Griffin 12. Mayweather over Marquez 13. Jones over McCallum 14. Mayweather over Hatton 15. Jones over Gonzalez 16. Mayweather over Chavez 17. Jones over Woods 18. Mayweather over Mosley 19. Mayweather over Hernandez 20. Jones over Tate I think Jones just nudges it based on the strength of the top two.
i kept on holdin to every title that i earn pound for pound im not concern (why) cuz if you put it on the line Roy Jones will be one through nine and number ten will be blank the experts need time to think (hmmmm) but from what i saw (****) Roy Jones number ten south paw cuz number one had no flaws (and still) have been through more **** than your draws - Roy being his own promoter earlier on in his career didn't do too bad for himself tbh. Everyone knows boxing is corrupt with the likes of Don Kings which were around those days. The main thing is he held onto his titles and produced good wins against Montell Griffin, James Toney, B hop etc. I sometimes think he was too good for his own... there was no real competition and back in the days Roy was adamant not to travel to Germany to face a certain someone. I guess he didn't want to face robbery like he did in the Olympics. How ironic as now he is going anywhere and everywhere :/ I would pretty much have the same list as the guy above me; maybe replace one of the names with Virgil Hill.
Floyd. Hill was past it and coming off a loss Mccallum was shot to **** Ruiz is C level The fact that Roy over Clinton woods is even on there tells you how weak Roy's top 10 is Roy has Toney, Hopkins, Tarver and Ruiz, Griffin, Johnson Floyd has Coralles, ODLH, Castillo (x2), Marquez, Judah, Hatton, Hernandez, Mosley, Mosley (coming off devestating KO of Margarito)
Jones is my main dude but I gotta give this one to Floyd- Jones' resume tapers off a lot more than Mayweather's once you get past their top 6-7 or so. Although he does have the better peak wins
This is a better top 20 1. JONES over Toney 2. JONES over Ruiz 3. JONES over Hopkins 4. MAYWEATHER over Corrales 5. MAYWEATHER over Oscar De La Hoya 6. JONES over Hill 7. MAYWEATHER over Hatton 8. MAYWEATHER over Cotto 9. JONES over Tarver 10. JONES over Griffin 11. MAYWEATHER over Mosley 12. MAYWEATHER over CASTILLO 13. MAYWEATHER over CASTILLO 2 14. JONES over Castro 15. MAYWEATHER over Marquez 16. JONES over Malinga 17. MAYWEATHER over Hernandez 18. JONES over Harding 19. MAYWEATHER over Judah 20. JONES over Woods
A good attempt but Reggie Johnson and Harding should be there, over Gonzalez and Woods and maybe even over Tarver. Malinga is borderline Personally I'd rate the DLH win over Cotto too Debatable, Harding at his best is underrated
FWIW, Hill wasn't even close to shot then - he was coming off a loss, but had JUST been lineal LHW champ. He was in his prime, and went on to win multiple titles after that fight. Anyway, one can play the same game with Floyd's resume. But just for fun: DLH was a semi-retired fighter who following that fight got his ass kicked by a guy moving up two weight classes. Corrales never panned out to be the monster people thought he was, and his best win was a come-from-behind KO where he had to cheat to avoid getting knocked out himself. Castillo was no better than Corrales, as multiple fights proved, yet he gave Floyd a ton of trouble. Cotto was competing above his best weight class. Hatton was moving up to a weight class where we already knew he sucked, plus he was pretty close to done by then. Marquez was moving up two weight classes. Mosely was gun shy and toast, and still knocked down Mayweather. Judah was coming off a loss and never really did **** other than beating Spinks. Now, I don't 100% believe all of the things I wrote above, but just as many holes can be poked in Floyd's resume as Jones's. They both avoided the best fighters they could face until it was too late. They both fought a bunch of guys not at their best weights. They both cherry picked like hell. And while they both have good resumes, it shows.
