As Larry merchant said "It's like he does rope-a-dope in the middle of the ring."

    Brittard post of the day.

Great quote. Never heard that one from Larry.

For his height and weight he is exceptionally mobile, has great anticipation and reflexes. I would say the best defensively skilled superheavyweight of all time.

    Size means **** without skill.

Have you noticed the defensive wizardry of Michael Grant, Julius Long, Ray Austin, Lance Whitaker, etc. lately?

    Me neither.

No it is not. That is why I specially underlined the word superheavyweight.

And I'm asking you guys, does Vitali belong at the top for defensive heavyweights, again, not superheavyweights, heavyweights.

No, but If you have seen Sugar Valuev's defensive wizardry then you have seen them all. It is magic.

    Valuev fought ONLY smaller guys.

The small Chagaev and Haye used his head as a punching bag. But I take nothing away from Valuev, this is just his kind of defense. Only true boxing purists can appreciate his wizardry.

Yeah pretty much. His excellent defense, is a reason why people think his chin is second to none. But i disagree.
