Pac should have rematched Marquez immediatly. It's a black mark on Pac that he doesn't give him that rematch.
Another terrible effect this fight has is that a Marquez rematch is basically out of the window now. Marquez wishes Pacquiao had won and that he would have been the one to put the L on Pacquiao's record.
Why hurry? We'll probably spend the whole 2013 scoring controversial Pac-Marquez 4 and outrageous Pac-Bradley3.
+1 Some people are acting as if Pacquiao is a never was, built up media hype? Avoid people like that. It is what it is- pro boxing as usual. Rematch in November.
The quiet winner in all of this,,,,,,, Good Guy,,,,,,,,,Juan Manuel Marquez. In November, at age 39,,,,,,,he will get a $3,000,000 fight purse paycheck on the undercard of the Pacqiuao vs Bradley II 'rematch'. It will be Bob Arum's 'insurance bet', just in case Manny bomb's out in the rematch. Mexico City 2013 anyone.
It was in '08 the same year as the DLH fight within 14months of Hatton and within 19 months of Cotto It's part stylistic but also shows what a great fighter Marquez is. I think I overrated Bradley's skills and ability in truth, but still more defensively sound than Cotto and certainly far harder to hit than Hatton. What puzzled me is how such a proven fit fighter was blowing hard after a few rounds, it could have been his ankle. Still if he did damage his ankle it was part due to being out on his feet
The funny thing is even Bradley s manager when asked before the announcement said he had it 9-3 Pacman...this was a horrible decision. PAC dominated, I give Bradley pressure for hanging in there but even in the 2-3 rds that were closer there was an argument that PAC won them I had the fight 10-2 and that was being generous to Bradley for grit This was nothing like the Marquez fight where there was a lot of clean hard punches thrown by both men, this was a fight Pac dominated. Anyone who feels it was close should watch it again and if they still feel it was close they bang there head on the wall for a few hours and watch it again. The build up on HBO was Bradley Max and Manny were already leaning with him before the fight but had to concede that Pac was dominating, no other way to see it. Up there with one of the worst robbery's ever
I thought it was an appalling decision. It's not the fact Pacquiao lost which really bothers me, but what does bother me is that it's a huge kick in the balls for boxing. Mayweather and Pacquiao, because of their PPV drawing ability, should be exempt from the sort of bull**** which happens far too frequently. When Abril got robbed against Rios, yeah, it was bad but at least it doesn't hurt the sport too much. You've got millions of people around America who witnessed an atrocious robbery last night and could you blame them if they were pushed away from the sport? I don't think so. It makes a mockery of boxing. I am almost certain that the person solely responsible for this was Arum. I wouldn't focus too much on the judges, because it's Arum who has orchestrated all of this. Short of opponents, he fixes a fight so he can have a potential trilogy with Bradley, a rematch with Marquez in the future and, crucially, it means that there is no reason to fight Mayweather. Arum is a disgusting thief. He actually had the audacity to come out after the fight and say "I'm gonna make a lot of money off the rematch". Yes, maybe Arum will make money. That's all he cares about but as he fattens his absurdly big pockets, it comes at the expense of his fighters, the fans and, sadly, the sport as a whole.
It was a bad decision, but nothing in the sphere of a Holyfield-Lewis. Rounds 1,2,7,8,9,10 and 12 were all close rounds. I certainly didn't see it one sided like most here seem to see it. Thought Pacquiao looked sluggish and a shadow of what he was 3 years ago.... He was coasting and taking shots sporadically through the first couple of minutes of just about every round. He's lucky he wasn't facing someone that could punch tonight because he could have been in big trouble.
I had it 7-5 for Manny. No way Bradley won that fight. Manny & his corner need to blame themselves as well, he was coasting & they didn't push him. Yes he won the fight by at least 2 rounds, but why let your fighter coast & risk it against judges who let's face it are very often incompetent. You should do your best to avoid going to decision in every fight, otherwise you will get ****ed over like last night.
Good point. At the end of the 4th round after barrage of Pac's punches Bradley appeared hurt, stumbled awkwardly backwards and sprained his ankle. I think many people expected that Bradley's excellent conditioning and occasional rough tactis would compensate for the lack of power in his punches. It was a bit surprising to see Pac not paying much respect to Bradley's punches and him closing the gap much easier than he did against Marquez. And Pac's punches clearly had an affect on Bradley.
Thinking about it this morning as I woke up, 115-113 is 7 to 5 for Bradley, and I honestly just do not see how a judge could have given Bradley 7 rounds, even giving him the benefit of the doubt. You would have to be bending over backwards trying your absolute hardest to give him any round that Pac didn't utterly dominate. You know the saying about who would you rather be, I'd have rather been Pac in nearly every round of that fight. Some decisions that caught my eye from C.J. Ross and Duane Ford: C.J. the people that got robbed is you, the public. all those cocksuckers were in on the fix. with no mayweather fight looming no time soon, the idea was to have this b.s. decision to sell a rematch with bradley. fat piece of **** arum knew what he was doing, since both are with top rank, keep the money in house like with other previous fights. the only answer to this is to boycott ppvs.
