Kelly Pavlik at MW on his rise to the title was anything but muscle bound, but his KO% was sick.

Wladimir hits a lot harder than Vitali, and he is actualyl one of the more "bodybuilding looking" HW. . Although I wouldn't call his build like a bodybuilders, but still, in comparison to other HW's, he has "that muscular look."

    Same with Tyson. .

There is no correlation whatsoever (positive, or negative) between muscle mass, and punching power

I think its more based on lower body strength. Pacquiao has huge calves and thigh muscles. Bradley had more of a upper body build and sticks for legs. Tyson's legs were also huge. Thats were the punching power generates from.

No doubt! However he was not "muscle bound" but could throw twice as hard as any Mr. Universe type could ever dream of doing.

Agree. . Pitching is all about body motoin, and technique. . Like punching power.

But perhaps if a Mr. Universe was trained as a pitcher since a little kid? Lol. . .

I know what you're saying, though, the size of your biceps, and pecs has nothing to do with how fast you can throw a ball, or how hard you can throw a punch.

people are born with punching power, other then that it will come from your legs and hips. bradley is very strong but his punching power is not equal to his physical strength.bradley strong because he can bench 350 which is alot of weight for a man his size.

Tight muscles will have less movement because they are already partially tight. Loose muscles will have full potential as it gets tightened to the max. Also muscle recovery is much easier when they are loose. If muscles are always tight they will get tired much quicker.

Being muscle bound is not what brings punching power.Punching power is mostly from bone density, that's what's called heavy handed but it can be transmitted from the legs. This is where training comes in and has something to do with how you place your feet before you launch your shot. Some martial arts can teach you that.

Power comes from the legs and the core, not the arms. Tendon elasticity, muscle fibre type and the length of the levers have more to do with punching power.

Great question. Randall Bailey looks more like a skier than a boxer, and he has one punch KO power. Pavlik is a friggin alcoholic and he too has one punch KO power. I'm thinking, muscles have little to do with it. Either you have punching power or you don't.
