Celestino Caballero vs. Mikey Garcia CANCELED

First they were going to have it in California headlining a Solo Boxeo card.

Last week it was proposed to bump it to September 7th so it could be on a more high-profile ShoBox card, in Las Vegas.

Now, Caballero has whined to the WBA (the sanctioning body based in his native Panama..) about the layoff being too long for him...so they have ordered the fight be moved back to July 28th - and to transpire in Panama ****ing City. atsch

Almost certain it doesn't happen now.

Steve Kim suggests that it's possible Mikey instead hops on the Orlando Salido vs. Mauricio Munoz card on July 21st for a stay-busy tuneup, with plans for Salido and Garcia to meet in October should neither experience a hiccup. :think That's actually almost better than Garcia vs. Caballero, since CC fights tend to be ugly. Hooray serendipity! (and something good coming out of primadonnas screwing things up)

 

lol at taking it out on caba, why the **** should THE CHAMP go to the other guys backyard for the fight? he did the right thing. **** what anyone says.

 

i'm actually liking this potential change of plans even though we'll have to wait a little longer for the premier matchup. salido vs garcia is scintillating. mexican american vs mexico, unstoppable force vs immovable object foty candidate. cannot be mad at that. give caballero a chance to avenge his loss to jason litzau or something, screw him.

 

well then he's gonna keep sitting on his ass if he thinks any respected opponent will travel over there to fight him.....caballero isn't a draw, at all.....so good luck with that decision

Could this be the worst year for boxing in recent memory? Campillo/Cloud, Rios/Abril, Pac/Bradley. . Khan/Peterson II cancelled cause Peterson proved to be a steroid cheat, and even roided up against Kahn in the first fight by his own admission. . Berto/ORtiz II cancelled due to Berto being a steroid cheat. . .

I'm sure there have been some other fights that were ****ing cancelled, or fights that were supposed to come together, btu didn't. .

****!! Garcia needs to fight somebody that isn't a can!!! dude looks good but so does everyone with decent skill and power vs the bums he's been fighting. Hopefully he doesn't turn into yet another mexican with 40 fights before he steps up to B level opposition. He should ust go to Panama, if he's the real deal he should have no trouble beating a way past it Caba, even in his hometown and he'd get major props for it.

 

the paul williams tragedy and to a much lesser extent the fight with canelo becoming an impossibility, as well as kirkland pulling out with the shoulder injury. alfredo angulo's in jail, and anthony dirrell got into a motorcycle accident.

We could have cleaned up the featherweight division if Cab/Garcia fought, and then the winner could simply fight Salido in Octoboer, or November anyway. . .


Now we have to settle for Garcia vs. a tomato can, and then just PRAY the Salido fight gets made.
