Excited? Lets be real Sergio would never fight anybody as good as Ward or Dirrell and while I would enjoy the fight I would give neither props for beating Sergio's ass. It was neutral ground organizers thought Froch had real fans and that they would fly over to see the fight.

 

I wouldnt think that is true, but people notice how all of the original S6 travelled except for Ward who stayed at home and things like how the ref warned Kessler for head use.
Ward hasnt proved himself by travelling.

Consider that American and American based fighters and Canadian and Canadian based fighters dont seem to be able to win big fights at SMW when fighting in Europe.
Consider how Lacy, Dirrell, J Taylor, Bute, Pascal, Mitchell, Brewer etc all were beaten in Europe

This just gives an idea but do consider that out of those 28 fighters 21 were or became world rated in the division, and some fought more than once in Europe, so there are even more losses to add to that.

ward defeated froch and kessler too thoroughly for the venue to have been a factor at all.

 

if venue and country are such a huge determining factor, then why was froch able to defeat taylor in devastating fashion, in america, and not able to come close to doing the same to ward? oh yeah, skills.

 

To be fair: while Ward has beaten Kessler clearly, the refereeing in the fight was a disgrace.

he's gaining quite a following in the bay area. I dont think he should make the move to staples just yet. staples is reserved for bigger stars, like juan manuel marquez.

Ward needs to fight Martinez. I dont rate Martinez that high but at least it will ignite this area of weight class a bit. There are some great fights available, is it promoters or greedy fighters who are messing things up, not sure
