Not relevent. He may have hand picked opponents who are stylistically well matched against him, but he also picked the biggest punchers in the division.

Yeah the fact that he didn't really get a chance to blunt it's force by rolling since he didn't see it made it all the more impressive IMO

His chin is solid.....he has taken plenty of good shots......alot less than anyone else currently active in the sport. I think you would be pretty naieve to believe he hasn't taken a few clean big punches in such a long career.

But it really doesn't matter as Manny will not land flush and frequently enough to hurt Floyd imo....

Come on he has fought Oscar, Cotto, Mosely, Judah* and not one of them could knock him down .

*Judah actually did give him a flash knock down but that was due to balance more than anything.

He has a good chin, but there are many variables that contribute to this.

For example, his footwork is second to none. This means he is rarely ever out of the correct boxing stance which allows the force of the punch to be absorbed through his legs.

Alot of this chin talk is purely hypothetical and is not actually applicable during a fight because of the amount of different aspects that can affect someone during a fight.

Yeah it was smack on, no defence. He's been hit so little that we judge **** like this off one punch though lmao.

 I wouldn't put too much stock in their opinions, every single one of them have Mayweather at the top of their iron chinned list which is a little silly if you ask me. There are guys that do nothing but engage in slugfests and don't flinch that are 5 spots below Floyd. They're either trollin or delusional nutthuggers.

Like who, a shot mosley? Hatton? Corrales back in 2001? Did you see how a shot mosley rocked Mayweather? Did Mora get rocked by Mosley? I wouldn't know I didn't even bother watching that fight... So what, Mora has a greater jaw than Mayweather? Anyhow, as I said, Mayweather has for the longest time carefully picked his opponents, opponents he knew wouldn't put him in trouble. So that's what we know. He can duck fighters well out of the ring, and those he get in the ring, can't knock him out, which doesn't mean much because the fighters who could are ducked.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is one of the few IRON CHINNED Fighters on boxing today. He doesn't take a lot of punches but anything he does take, he takes well. He got hit by 2 KO shots from Mosley which wobbled him, but even in the state that most fighters would be KO'd in, he knew to grab mosley's arm and knew EXACTLY how to survive. He's taken right hands from shane, left uppercuts from Judah, shots from Cotto, Castillo, Hatton, Corrales blah blah blah, the list goes on. He has faces a LOT of SOLID PUNCHERS throughout his dominant career and he has never been in serious trouble. His chin is CAST IRON, it's irrefutable.

Imo, he's got a decent chin, but more than that he knows how to recover when he is dazed.

How is it relevant that was in 2001? The entire basis of Vitali Klit's iron chin is based on an inside uppercut from Lennox Lewis in 2003

I know it's going off subject, but you username always catches my eye.My dad's house was bombed in Crown Avenue.

Anyway,I'm fairly convinced he's got a solid beard even allowing for the defence.Regardless of how you think the fight went,he survived a few good blows from Castillo.
In fact I've no doubt whatsoever his chin is right up to scratch.

SMH at someone who will judge fighters based on them having a weak chin, which I'm assuming that poster will have done in other posts. He only referenced one instance where he took a big shot though. Where are all these other big shots that the guy mentioned?

Pacquiao also faught Cotto and Mosley and he didn't get knocked down, but Pacquiao doesn't seem to have an amazing chin, as seen in his fight with Marg (all be it expected with the size difference). He can fight these guys, but did they really land any rocking or knockout shots?

Agreed with all. I wouldn't really talk about someone having a weak chin if they are a great fighter. With guys like Khan it will come into play, but for example Wlad Klitschko these days takes so many clean shots that there is no point in mentioning his chin. Just wondering what the general consensus on May's chin was. Everyone seems to reference "good chin", which is obvious because he's undefeated in what? 46 fights? But HOW good? Trying to see if there are any signs of times that he's took big shots that aren't talked about as much.
