no the value of someone who gets paid to follow a sport compared to a fan is not the same.

i hear what you're saying but i don't totally agree.

there are those in the medical profession who are being dictated to by doctors who have never practiced medicine and have no clue. u used a very poor analogy to make ur point...but there are definitely parallels to be drawn from this.

there are plenty who love boxing that have never boxed but write about it. i would say that the ones that have true understanding are very rare. 1 out of 20. u can ask any boxer or trainer and i'm quite sure they'll agree. writers come a dime a dozen...especially internet writers. most of them have zero journalism background.

i don't know what dan rafaels background is....but i can tell u that a guy who just started following the sport around gatti/ward knows far less than most of the knowledgeable posters i know on most boards and he is considered an "expert."

    ring generalship
    effective aggression
    defense
    clean punching

Pacquiao controlled the pace and ring.
He was the aggressor, much more effective than Bradley
He clearly had the better defense, and had more clean punches.

It's pretty easy to score in this one. Looked like a Klitschko fight almost.

no, the fans and the writers are what make the sport therefore they are the ones who should determine who the winner is.

that is the reason for instant replay. for the fans.

I thought Marquez won that fight, was it crystal clear like this? No, but I thought he won. This is apples and hockey pucks though.

go and pick any round from any fight compubox is being used. count the punches landed urself and compare the results. these guys are sitting ringside and still can't get it right. what i find funny is that their numbers always seem to support what jim lampley and lederman see. have they ever been in disagreement? not that i can recall.

recently...i watched floyd/cotto. one of the rounds compubox credited cotto with 4 punches landed. i thought...wtf!? that must be an error. i watched again...nope...4 punches they said. i counted 22 landed. compubox is ****.

It don't think it's a bad analogy, research physicians are a primary contributor to the over all field of medicine. Sports journalists contribute (like it or not) to the over all field of boxing.

Anyway, it was a good enough analogy to understand my underlying point. Even if you're right about only 1 in 20 knowing what they're talking about, all the respected ones I know of, gave it to Pac.
