We know what Khan is and isn't thanks to Maidana and Peterson (on juice). But Garcia is still a question. He has beaten Holt and put up a great show with Morales. Yet hasn't faced the adversity that Khan has. Garcia is always well composed and comes to fight. I like this kid and I hope he goes home with a win on July 14th. I believe he has the better chin and the skills/power to compete at Khan's level to get him a 12 decision. If he can take Khan into deep waters and get him exhausted (as he has been before) we might see him winning byt TKO/KO in the late rounds. _____________________________ What do you guys think of the fight and how do you see it going?
Khan should outbox Garcia with accuracy and speed. I can't wait to see how much he has improved since Peterson made him want to step his game up thanks to PEDattack.
From another thread: People are forgetting how good of a fighter Khan is on the outside. Yes, he sometimes lunges and forgets to bring his feet under him as he rushes in with little sense of pace, but let's not pretend he's unskilled and ungifted here. His timing with that fast jab, above all his punches, is very good, and for all of his flaws in terms of movement, he circles well and knows how to maintain his preferred range. Only Maidana and Peterson have been able to effectively penetrate Khan's control of distance (neither dominantly), which over time, has gotten better and will continue to do so. Garcia, while a good fighter, is not creative or experienced enough to catch Khan with anything significant repeatedly as Khan comes in, nor to force him to open up consistently by pressing. Morales picked him apart in most of the early rounds just by timing a right hand over his jab as he slips inwards-a neat trick that comes with experience which Khan does not have in his own repertoire, but the fact remains that he could not adjust or find a way to neutralize Morales' control of distance, besides the bursts of offense and opportune counters presented by Morales's carelessness coming forward that presented themselves later in the fight, as age took its toll and youth won the war of attrition. I see Khan taking a UD or a late KO/TKO in a good fight, as Garcia will at least compete well.
Im on a roll so far. Picked Peterson, Froch and Bradley. Im picking Garcia. He's much more well-rounded than Khan. Once he gets his jab and timing down its lights out for Khan. Will be tough for him to survive the early rds. But he will punch with you and go out on his shield if he has to i believe. Dude can take a punch too.
Garcia may not be creative or experienced enough. But hes very well schooled. He knows how to box, counter, fight inside, outside and i really like his jab and his hook off the jab. Also Khan is not a thinker like Morales. Not even close. Garcia needs to work on setting more traps. He doesn set up any. Just solely relies on what u bring to him. That may not be such a bad thing vs Khan since he can be wreckless and predictable. I love this match up
Thanks man :good Khan isn't the veteran that Morales is, but he's likely twice as effective on the outside due to his out-fighting style and handspeed. His timing with the jab is superior to anything Garcia, the shorter man, has demonstrated at that range. My point in referencing the Morales fight is that Garcia, when unsure as to what to do, fights at Morales's pace and flounders on the outside for half the fight. He's not a pressure fighter that creates opportunities to attack Morales(one way to beat Khan) aside from random bursts that eventually take their toll, and he doesn't seem accurate enough to counter-punch Khan as he comes in and over-commits (another way we've seen could be effective.) He may prove competitive, but he's less mobile and looks stylistically less prepared to find success in the ring. Khan just has to be himself, whereas Garcia will have to show us something new.
Garcia will get a modest beating and be stopped in the later rounds imo. I really don't like that whiner Khan, but he's at least a level above Garcia.
I just finished watching Morales/Khan cuz I can't sleep and Garcia was up from the get go. Morales was never constantly beating him. Untill the 8-9 round you couldn't have had any fighter up more than 1-2 rounds. I think Garcia is being underrated. I think if he doesn't win he'll make a even better showing of himself.
I agree. And you're 100% right about Garcia just being a straight forward fighter. Well schooled but no traps and I also noticed that he kind of one dimensional , like Khan. This will be a good scrap. I can't wait.
I honestly see this as a complete mismatch. Khan Dominates him in Similar fashion to Judah, Malignaggie or Kotelnik. I don't see him loseing around. And i think he'll also get the KO, depending how tough this kid is. I'll be honest i've only seen a couple of Garcia fights. He didn't look great at all against Morales and i thought it was a 50//50 fight up to the KO.
I have to agree. [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCJmVf-QX5g[/ame] Against a relatively inactive fighter, Garcia throws himself off balance, drops his hands constantly, stands too straight up, and doesn't force the pace. Some speed and pop behind some well-thrown combinations are nice, but they don't mean anything if you can't get into position to throw them. That sneaky left hook he throws is nice, but in what situation is he going to land it? On the outside as Khan sticks his jab in his face? On the inside after demonstrating some newfound ability to pressure a mobile Khan much better than Maidana and Peterson could? I don't see it happening.
