I doubt. Donaire knows that fighting El Chacal wont be good for his health. He'll continue to fight overmatched opposition and ignoring Rigondeaux.
Even if Donaire wanted the fight (which he doesn't) Arum wouldn't make it. Just like the Gamboa v Lopez situation, in the likely sitation of the Cuban winning, Arum wouldn't want a guy with no fan base beating a guy who brings in plenty of money for him.
building a fan base is up to a promoter,Roberto Duran didn't speak english. But by beating everybody around he made his name count as one of the biggest boxing attractions of his era.Rigondeaux has the pedigree and the excitement to do the same.He is more a technician with great power. He has changed his style to a more aggressive approach to please the audience. He is the master of i hit you and don't touch me. The sad part about Nonito is that he doesn't say: yes i want Rigo at any time, its up to my promoter. No, he plains says he doesn't want Rigo because he is boring or doesn't have a fan base( like Narvaez?)...at least chavez Jr has been always willing to face martinez( in interviews) but he says its up to Arum. Nonito has become the biggest coward of boxing.
doesnt he has enough money? do you need much more money, when youre already millionere and 80 years old? would he live for another 100 years than yes money would still be important, but as for now, isnt making the best fights possible the best way to do it?
I love how Nonita claims Rigo is boring...Apparently, Nonita hasn't watched his own fight against a completely outmatched Narvaez, and didnt hear the crowd screaming "This is bull****!" over and over again. At least Rigo completely destroys overmatched opposition in exciting and devastating fashion.
I seriously doubt it. . . I honestly think Donaire wants no part of Rigo. . . I've talked to him about it on facebook, and he said "I told my team to make the fight, but they said 'I'm booked for the rest of the year.'" Then I said, well what about 2013? And he said, we'll see, but right now Rigo hasn't done anything to earn a shot with me, and I'll probably be going to 126 once I clean out 122. . And I said "but how can you clean out 122 until you fight Rigo (unless he loses first)"? Then he stopped responding.
You're preaching to the choir mate. I've been saying it for a long time, Arum has a legacy as a promoter but it seems money is his only motivation. It's sad, it really is. :-(
Donaire is one of my favourite active boxers to watch. Very fast, good timing, nice counters, etc. He looks a clear step above most boxers. I haven't seen much of Rigo, but while Donaire impresses me on more of an athletic level, Rigo shines in his accuracy, patience and technical ability. I'm actually not sure who would win. One thing that confuses me is Rigo's tendency (in his latest fight) to 'rehearse' punches, as Lampley put it. He sort of does a slow motion routine of punching while standing in front of his opponent. Is this just showboating? I don't see any real purpose to it, as it isn't quick enough to be a feint. I suppose it could work as a way of baiting people to attack him.
