1. Earnie Shavers 2. Tommy Hearns 3. Randall Bailey 4. Archie Moore 5. Wilfredo Gomez 6. Jimmy Wilde 7. Joe Louis 8. Bob Foster 9. Julian Jackson 10. Ruben Olivares
Some of those guys listed may have very well had the hardest punch, but I think it's more important whether or not they can sustain that punch throughout the duration of the fight. Bailey clearly does not fall in this category. For instance, if it wasn't for him landing those two shots, he would have lost a wide decision. If he was more active, he may not have had enough on his punch to achieve that knockout. I think guys like Hearns, Louis, and Marciano are more impressive than guys like Shavers and Bailey, who may have overall more power, but it's probably negligable at best anyway, and they can't sustain that power throughout the duration of the fight unless they shut their offense off. I'd probably also consider adding Wlad to that list. I used to be a big Wlad hater, but I can't deny his ability to turn a guy's lights out.
1. Julian Jackson 2. George Foreman 3. Thomas Hearns 4. Naseem Hamed 5. Earnie Shavers 6. Archie Moore 7. Ray Robinson 8. Jimmy Wilde 9. Joe Louis 10. Stanley Ketchel Honourables to Rockabye Rubes, Bob Foster, Ike Williams, Rocky Marciano
Bayley doesnt deserve to be on that list ahead of guys like Saddler,Tyson,Danny Lopez,Cuevas etc. And i would have Jackson higher. Otherwise its a good list.
#1 is Bob Fitzsimmons. A natural super-middle he was dispatching world class HW's with single punches. Even if guys like Jackson may have hit just as hard in real terms, they didn't prove it like Fitz did. Guy is a lock. P4P hardest puncher of all time, no question.
Spot on well said with the poor defense to body punches shown by both klitsckos I coudl see old Bob at the age of 48 knocking them out with body punches. So often i hear how they would have dominated any era. Primo Carnera fights identical to them and joe lewis beat the snott out of him
