Trying to list all the variables (whilst considering their importance) that influence the outcome of a fight. I've put them into seperate tiers, please put forward your views also if your into calling fights. Tier one (directly influencing a fight) Weight. Styles. Conditioning. Skills. Lifestyle. Tier two (probably influencing a fight) Experience. Power. Defence. Chin. Body punching Resistance. Speed. Athletic Abilty. Tempo. Height/Reach. Technique. Ring size. Southpaw/Orthodox record Footwork/balance Sparring. Age Location. Judges. Activity. Noteable wins/losses. Wear and Tear. Round Limit. Heart. Tier 3 (Possibly influencing a fight) Ref. Trainer. Glove size.
Your'e over complicating things a tad. I like to get to the heart of the matter without too much terminology. The way I look at is - A)What punches can fighter A land on B. What effect will they have and will that superceede what fighter B is throwing back at A. Then you throw in the intangibles like chin, stamina, mental toughness. B) Is the fight in Texas?
is the boxer a) slick and black or b) not slick and not black if the boxer falls into category A then i put my weeks earnings on said fighter
usually you dont have to look into so deaply one is usually more tsalented plain and simple usually only when one can 'bang' or one has a suspect chin can i look at a upset (which is not always the case but 99%) when 2 of equal talent come into play usually look at styles experience conditioning ect
Good option... but can't do that anymore, he's been dead for a while now. He would probably have prevented me from losing a lot of vmoney at the Pacquiao vs Ford & Ross fight :!:
I wouldn't bet on boxing due to the consistently shite decisions we see. I don't want to be annoyed by my fighter being robbed as well as me Just realised you meant predicting not betting my bad.
Ah I didn't realise that fell under lifestyle. For example, Zab Judah lives a good lifestyle/keeps in shape but when push comes to shove in the ring he is found wanting i.e mayweather fight/khan/cotto fight. Mentally he is weak when the chips are against him, much like Ortiz. Contrast that with someone like Lewis/Gatti/Corrales or Khan even who have the natural instinct to keep going no matter what and never look for a way out - it's not in their DNA
No your right that doesn't really fit under lifestyle I thought you meant how dedicated they were to boxing and if they were living the life. What your talking about fits under heart in the 2nd tier though An overlooked variable
