There aren't any proper journeymen anymore, just professional losers letting young pups pad their records.

A proper journeyman should regularly go around upsetting people that aren't on their mettle - some pretty crap ''prospects'' get to 15 or 20-0, fighting absolutely nobody, yet being touted for world title fights.

By all means tout them for British titles, Hatton had about 20 fights before his first big fight, but he'd got bags of experience both domestically and abroad, and had a wide range of opponents stylewise.

A bit different to a 2-34-1 journeyman followed by a ''never been stopped'' pudding who promptly falls over.

 

10 fights a year is reasonable for a new professional.

 

Fearon and Hatton fighters would work a treat.

 

Yeah I agree with big Chris. 10 fights a year will give him good experience and keep his focus high at all times. His old man was very active and didn't just knock over bums either. He boxed the dangerous banger Anthony Logan in only his 12th fight and you could see right there that he was going places.

 

I don't know what world you live in ai786 but yes any fighter who wins a world title needs xp. The guys like DLH, Ottke, Tyszu Ringodeux (excuse my spelling) who win a belt after 6 or like Khan, Ward, Mayweather etc. who win a title with about 20. All of these guys have had 90 to 300 amateurs with a lot of fights at world class level. Eubank only had about 25 amateurs. He needs atleast 30 pros before making a challenge and imo SR. is right. In 2 years he could have 100 rounds under his belt.

 

When your only doing 4x3 you should have at least 1 a month imo. Top class amateurs have about 20 a year and they do 3x3 4x2 or now 5x3 and it's not like they box bums either.

I didn't disagree you need experience, I said 6-7 fights is a good amount, if their quality oppenants it's better than fighting every 2-3 weeks against Bums.
