The bigger guys he fought in recent years didn't exactly know how to fight tall. Oscar had a flawed and squared stance making him into a bigger target. He kept his head right in the center line and was overly reliant on picking off shots. He reminded me of them martial artists who try to parry everything off. Hatton, Clottey, and margarito(e) had zero upper body slickness. Ricky didn't even keep his hands up. Cotto(e) had a real awful stance before he got with Steward and Pedro. He like Oscar would square up too much, and to make things worse Miguel hunched over. Shane was disciplined enough to box tall in their fight and shut down emmanuel's offense for the most part. Juan and Timmeh used upper body slickness along with head movement to greatly shut down emmanuel's offense. Juan gave him a through boxing lesson. Timmeh made him look sloppy. Tijuana was bigger and knew how to box tall. He ended up beating emmanuel.
I'm saying many of those bigger guys didn't know how to properly use their size, and it made them into bigger targets. They took the caveman approach of I'm going to try to outpower and outchin this smaller man. Morales did it right and used his size to make it a long range fight. Hatton gets a pass since his style wasn't ever about fighting tall.
its because he's insanely strong, they think they are the bigger stronger guy and he loves show them that they aren't, and having the blinding speed to humiliate them only made it more of spectacle
He was technically a mess for that fight. He gave up his height, had his head way past his lead knee, wasn't turning Pac, lacked a right hand (this was pre-surgery), and had no plan B once Manny kept timing and countering him. I'm not sure Cotto would beat him, but I'm positive he'd do better with the experience he's had from Steward and Diaz.
