I was reading an old Ring Mag and they were doing a section on Hopkins/Trinidad and it got me thinking about how big that win was for Hopkins' career...

So, what were your most significant wins of the last 100 years? In terms of history and for that fighter's career.

I'll throw a quick top 10, kind of in order.

    1. Ray Leonard over Marvin Hagler
    2. Muhammad Ali over Big George
3.. Joe Louis over Max Schmeling
    4. Henry Armstrong over Barney Ross (126 lb champ beating the 147 lb champ to unify 2 weights)
    5. Harry Greb over Gene Tunney
    6. Cassius Clay over Sonny Liston
    7. Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson
    8. Roberto Duran over Ray Leonard
    9. Joe Frazier over Muhammad Ali
    10. Jake Lamotta over Ray Robinson
    11. George Foreman over Michael Moorer
    12. JC Chavez Sr. Over Meldrick Taylor
    13. Ray Leonard over Thomas Hearns
    14. Ray Robinson over Gene Fullmer (best KO in history IMO)
    15. Fritzie Zivic over Henry Armstrong
    16. Salvador Sanchez over Wilfredo Gomez
    17. Ezzard Charles over Archie Moore
    18. Jimmy McLarnin over Barney Ross
    19. Sam Langford over Joe Gans
    20. George Foreman over Joe Frazier

    :good

Douglas-Tyson needs to be higher, IMO.

And Randall-Chavez should be up there.

    * Ray Robinson vs Gene Fullmer II (Aging legend destroys the guy who beat him to win the middleweight title via one of the most famous one punch kayos in boxing history)

    * Bernard Hopkins vs Felix Trinidad (3-1 underdog cements his name in history by dismantling and demolishing the much feared Trinidad and then stopping him late)

Yeah I actually moved it down before I posted it  It just didn't do a lot in the grand scheme. But still huge.

And yes to the other responses. I'm adding them in there. Can't believe I forgot the Duran/Leonard fight :patsch

Biggest British win over the last 30 years has to be Honeyghan vs Curry.

For historical significance, we got to have one of Jack Johnson's wins against Tommy Burns or James Jeffries.

I like Johnson over Jim so much more than over Burns. Burns was just too small for such a great heavyweight like Jack.

 The drama of it, Taylor was a top fighter beating Chavez, Chavez wore him down, and like the stoppage or hate it, he got the finish and really cemented his claim as THE top mexican fighter ever because of it, and preserved his 0, IMO.

True, that last round was pretty amazing, but

I think that Knocking Down the Legend for the first time, and ending his reign goes higher, IMO
