I actually hold out hope that GBP/TR can work together. They HAVE to if they want to keep this sport alive.

I think it's more about Floyd vs TR and GBP being his promoter than it is straight up gbp vs tr

Too bad he didn't fight the actual top two in the division in Donaire and Moreno. And the latter definitely could have been made.

I like Mares as a fighter, very much, but Rigondeaux would be something new altogether if you ask me. Rigondeaux by KO.

No one having any hope for Mares?

Damn you guys are being blinded by Rigos recent success. You guys are forgetting when he fought someone who could press him and not give him room he choked. Cordaba had the right strategy and arguably won their fight.

From what I have seen from Rigo so far I am starting to feel more confident in Mares.
Mares seems to be growing and showing us more dimensions in every fight.
Rigo basically only shows us his left hand. When an opponent is open for a right hook he does not use the punch.

Honestly I feel all Mares has to do is work on taking Rigos left hand away and pressure him at the same time and he will have Rigo in retreat mode. With the power Rigo carries in that left hand Mares would be in danger the entire fight but if Rigo has no right hand which I suspect I see Mares taking him.

Put me down for Mares. I see Mares being the tougher rougher fighter who has solid skills and can use both hands. He also has shown he can up his game if the going gets tough.

You have got to be kidding me if that is what you think. I will say this. Rigo beat Cordoba in a close fight. It was a very uninspiring win though. Once Rigo touched the canvas he did not want to fight anymore.

The reason I brought this up is because people have been acting like Rigo is this unstoppable force when really his level of competition just has not been great. Ramos was crap and fought a scared fight he whole time. Kenedy? Who is that anyways.

Tell me about Rigos right hand?
How will he react when he has another guy who can hurt him and pressures him for 12 rounds?
What will Rigo do if Mares takes away his left hand?

We dont know these things about Rigo yet because he has not faced the opposition needed to be tested. We have seen him stop a bunch of cans.

Mares we have seen tested against the best in his weight class and has always stepped up his competition against the best.
I think it is disrespectful to him to just say he will get blasted by Rigo.

there should be a reason why Mares doesnt mention Rigo in that interview that i just posted in this thread-as fresh as yesterday.
im not in the business of making predictions of who wins and how.My business is seen good fights, the best fighting each other.Against protected cash cows, against ducking and robberies- so common nowadays.
    what's your business?

Rigo stops Mares in brutal fashion. Agbeko could have taken out Mares when he crunched him with an insane right hand, but instead of pouncing, Agbeko did the ****ing opposite and backed off.

I also want to see the best fights. I would love to see Mares-Rigo.
I am sure you are aware this sport is a business. It has always been a business. Nobody is mentioning Rigo because he like most Cuban fighters out there have no following and bring nothing to the table.

I wish we had a world of boxing where there was no robberies and the best always fought the best. Unfortunately that is not happening anytime soon and that is why Cubans will always have a hard time getting followings unless they fight like Gamboa.
