Your bias is disappointing. The simple fact is that if Chavez was willing to clear his reputation and gain wider support he'd demonstrate sportsmanship and not shrug off his moral responsibilities. Sure, the Rubio fight lack of post-fight testing wasn't his fault, but he didn't do anything to assuage people's suspicions. Same with this glove thing. You call it mind games, but everyone with a shred of impartiality can see it for what it is: bull****. Sure, people around Jr are the ones making these decisions, but he's able to speak up isn't he? Or is he just another puppet?

Texas is one of the worst commissions in boxing so no surprise here. Why not just do the fair thing and weigh the gloves, to assure everyone that there is a level playing field? If the commission is not about assuring fundamental fairness, then why even have a commission? It would be minimally intrusive upon their time. So why not do it? Because they are afraid of what it might reveal. And if they are afraid of what it might reveal, then what does that tell you about Chavez, Jr.'s people and the commission? Just a bunch of shady dudes. Integrity is a foreign word in Texas.

In the old days Lee would have insisted that the gloves be weighed or refused to fight. Then they would weigh them, or he'd walk out and there would be no fight. But then the comish would have to give a reasonable answer as to why they refused to weigh them, and were so hell bent not to do it, and there is no logical defensible answer to that question. But the reason Lee won't do that is he wants to get paid. Lee will come in there, give it a game effort, get KO'd, and then they'll have their issue to make after the fight. And the Texas comish will once again have protected the promoter's boy. After all, they've done it for Chavez before. Why do you think they keep fighting him in Texas? And HBO does nothing about it, either. If they cared about boxing, they would refuse to televise fights in Texas unless and until they got some legitimate commissioners in there. They'll make good copy about it and whine, but they won't use any of their economic power and pull to DO anything about it.

he might be just another puppet....but you tell me one fighter that has ever stepped up ????

fighters are a special species, they see blood and only blood....reason why they hire a team to take care of the xtra mumbo jumbo.....

fighters in a way highter caliber haven't even tried to make a difference, why should he.......just to have the support of a few whiny fans ????

the true leaders of the sport should make a difference, it's not the fighters responsibility to worry about **** like that......make weight and fight, that's it !!!

    Floyd, many times.

As recent as his last fight with Cotto, when Nazim Richardson spotted a flaw in his gloves, he agreed to change gloves.

So you think that Jr shouldn't demonstrate sportsmanship and integrity because "no-one else has"? If you think Jr has no responsibility to protect his reputation and to ensure fair play is carried out then you're deluded. He has every right to demand his integrity is proven, but he chooses to remain tight-lipped. That's mighty suspicious, at the very least.

it's not his job...plain and simple

he's a fighter, he's not running for president...he knows haters will always exist, so why go the extra mile when next week people will find another reason to hate him.....dont you think the kids just exhausted of trying to please people...he's focused on his career, and rightfully so

Commision should just provide the gloves themself...
Weigh a Hund pairs or so, Lay them out let the fighter pick the pair they like & done.

    This thread wouldn't exist.
(But I guess that's too easy)

Why should he? Be ****ing real there are rules here, this is a Middle weight title fight, gloves are required to be 10 ounces, Stewart has a right to ensure that we are using the fight gloves that are required per the rules of the WBC and the rules of the commission all fights above 147 are to be fought with 10 ounces.

I am sorry but Chavez and Roach even should they win, its a suspicious win if they do no allow the gloves to be weighed

Give it a rest, will you? This bull**** "it's not his job" excuse doesn't mean a thing. It's his ****ing career on the line if one of his team does something which earns him a suspension or prison time, so while it may not be his 'job', it's his ****ing responsibility to make the right decisions. It's his job that's on the line if some dippy **** on his team pulls a fast one. If he's not interested in such matters he's either involved in it or he's ****ing stupid, so which is it? Jesus, so you're Mexican, and you're proud of that, and you support Mexican fighters. We get it. Just stop being so biased because of that.

I'm talking worst-case scenario. Resto-Collins type deal. I'm not talking about bad wraps, I'm talking about potentially illegal gloves.

Are you ****ing kidding me? What is the glove size requirement for fighters who are above 147?
Now if a trainer suspects something is up he has every right to make sure that the gloves being used are the required gloves per the rules of the sport.

The commissions job is to ensure the safety of the fighter, Keep in mind what happened to Oscar Diaz in Texas.

after having something like that go down, and how tragic that event was, you would think Texas would do much more to ensure the safety of these guys

i know the wbc rules....do you know the texas rules ??? it's like an olskool mma fight.....ONLY RULE IS, THERE ARE NO RULES :lol:

look bro, i understand your argument but it's not the kids fault....he's a ****en gold mine for most, especially right now that the stars are slowly falling from the skies.....the kid just wants to fight, simple as that

focus your attention and hate towards roach, and texas...that's where it should be aimed at anyways.....both camps knew when signing that the fight was gonna take place pretty much in the alley of the boxing world.....deal with it, is the mindfram the lee camp should have....period
