I can't believe Freddie said the will move up to 168. This is a real weight division where even the so called bums can fight. Walking people down @ 168 is a sure way to get that ass kicked

I agree. Sure, he could beat some at 168, but any of the top dogs would be way too much for him.

Boxing is about pushing yourself to your limits and seeing how far you can go. No point staying at home and giving up. JC jr has a good trainer, he keeps improving and they will make the necessary adjustments for 168. If he loses he loses, if wins more to gain, at least he is pushing himself to his limits and making a name based on his own merit.

yeah he would stand no chance against greats that have titles right now like brian magee, robert stigltetz. and he would beat Pavlik at this point and froch or bute is no clear favorite over him... theres a few guys that would wreck him..but only a few

Froch is no clear favorite over Jr? wow, just start watching boxing.

dude, if craig mcewan, who has a well below 40% KO ratio could
hurt Lee on several occasions then was a real surprise that Jr could.
also Lee was ahead on bias texas judges scorecards, so jr had to pull
put a KO to win it.
Froch is a whole other stretch of road kiddo.

    Depends on who he fights...

    I'd take Sturm,Pirog, And Martinez over him @ 160

    Ward would school him

Froch would give him brain damage

He would be competitive with a shot Kessler

Now that Bute has been exposed, maybe he wins that fight :good

Who cares? at least they are gonna give it a go.. JR is hungry coming from legendary son you usually don't see that hunger... but dude has heart and chin to test the waters...

They will make adjustments, and there a big fights to be made career building fights in that division where if JR pushes hard can forge his own name in 160 and 168...

ward JR would be an epic fight for the future maybe in like 2 years... Ward will be P4P dude and JR if he beats on martinez which he will, will then become another P4P star...

only time will tell but the sky is the limit, JR has the heart, guts chin and management to bring him a long great... we shall see.

It's probably more of a physical thing than anything. He's still got time to develop. He can probably beat guys towards the bottom of the top 10, and go from there.

I think it's a good move for Chavez. He'll need a few light touches before taking on one of the top Super MW's but I think he'll fill out into a true 168 lb fighter.

After his body adjusts and acclimates to the new weight class I think he could be stronger, more energetic and more complete. The work Chavez puts into the body is refreshing.....I used to love watching Duran fights partially due to the fact that he was a relentless machine who always focused on the body..JCC Superstar was the same way. 168 is definitely a deeper division but Chavez is a real threat to anyone in or around his division.
