Rate Mike Tyson's chin

According to most, Tyson was a 167 feet tall, and weighed 215 Godzilla tons that preyed on small Japanese people like a bully...nicknamed Godzilla.
In reality, he tended to be the smaller man looking up to his opponents...although like an American-Pitball does with his victims.

 

It's probably due to the camera angle and distance, but he hardly looks over 5-10 max if that, in this video:

in his prime, he took some big shots with ease

 

So how is this 5'10 fighter standing 5 foot, 10 inches above his 6 foot 2 inch opponent?

Ruddock tried to fight that smirk off at the end after Mike's wisecrack lol. Ruddock was like ok, that was a good line Mike.

 

I voted pretty good. Tyson had great defense, so we never draw him get hit much, especially in his prime. No way I can agree with anyone rating his chin as weak.

I rate Lennux higher as an ATG Heavyweight, but **** all that great chin bull****. He's the only one who can lay claim to twice being knocked out from a single punch as defending champion/titlist. :deal Worse, these occurred in the 2nd and 5th rounds respectively when he'd sustained very minimal punishment.

Putting him in there with Holyfield and Holmes... atsch

 

I get your frustration. I never said Lewis had a great chin either, as Tyson's was clearly better and with better recovery IMO

People act like Mike was a Mental midget but he was a hard man no matter how you slice it.

There wasn't any type of mental breakdown in Tokyo. That was a motivated, supremely conditioned super-heavyweight handing Tyson his ass IN his physical prime. Buster had a lot more talent than he's given credit for and the way his jab was working would've bothered Mike regardless. He was also come off six consecutive wins which I think bears mentioning considering how typically inconsistent he was throughout his career. The thing I don't like about it is that Tyson came out lethargic from the very start and just wasn't making the typical type of sustained effort to attack, just walking straight in hardly throwing punches.

 

After the first, Tyson seemed to just want to punch and clinch. And because of that, Douglas took advantage. Tyson's would be reaching for the clinch and Douglas would bust him up. That's not how he used to work himself on the inside. And the Jab was missing among many things.
