Andy Lee has never impressed me. It's no surprise that he's not a top-notch MW. He's a limited fighter. I'd rather watch John Duddy.
lee looked awful for a guy with supposed power. one thing I have noticed over the years is that Steward fighters cannot fight on the inside. From hilmer kinty on down through lewis, klit, lee, they all suck at the inside game.
Basically. I do think that Jrs body attack and constant pressure sapped his legs. He couldnt keep the pace.
Lee is no bum he just has a problem stciking with the gameplan. He should've stayed on the outside and controlled Jr. with the jab. He'd back up to the ropes & try to go punch for punch with a guy who only does that style. Why fight down to the level of your opponent? That being said it was a good win for Chavez, he stuck to his plan and I think Roach helped him quite a bit.
Steward is the best to train tall fighters! And tall fighters never be good on the inside so they use tactic like Lewis and Wlad to avoid inside fighting. Lee does not use it after round 3. He wants to fight on the inside to brawl with Chavez. The result is the loos.
Lee isn't a bum, but I agree he really is more of a journeymen. His record is incredibly padded, and if he keeps fighting B-level and above he'll easily lose most of those fights. He's already lost to C-level Vera, and almost lost to C-level McEwan.. he just got finished by a B-level Chavez Jr. Which means that Lee is what I always thought he was, C-level journeymen. No shame in that, most who try boxing never can achieve that. I'm not sure he actually cracks the top 25 in his weight.
Look here's another ******* now^^^ Yup I agree Jisi, these posters are supposed to be boxing fans & Lee has still never been down in a fight. He needs to work on his stamina though & stick to the fight plan better.
All credit to Jr here, the hate is crazy, but this is ESB. Lee tried to stick to his game plan, but when you are getting smacked constantly in the body with murderous shots, it slows you down fast. Junior is a very good body puncher, his chin is solid and he just keeps coming. It was a tremendously enjoyable action fight, credit to both guys. Lee looked as good as he ever has, but Junior is a strong mo-fo and those body shots were slowly bringing the guard down, and there was no way Lee was going to be able to box him to a decision. Junior is too big, strong and you can't hurt him. But every thunking smack of Juniors punches were hurting Lee. It was a great fight for fans, Junior won me as a fan for sure, and I think he can beat Maravilla the same way he beat Lee. To me that's the best fight out there right now and I really hope it comes off.
