If it was purely on fighters faced rather than the result Eubank takes this. However if were doing it based on how they performed then like the majority have already said, Joe wins quite comfortably.

    Eubank's best wins were:

Benn (when he was a one trick pony)
    Watson
    Rocchigiani
    Thornton
Holmes (when he was past his prime)
    Malinga

The Hopkins Calzaghe beat even at 43 was arguabley AT LEAST as good as any of them

Eubank was really a domestic on the world scene, and only the littlest world title that noone really wanted outside the UK at that time.

His greatest asset was that indomitable chin, aside from that he wasnt all that. But that chin was a big plus, it meant he could beat superior skills and/or superior firepower just by letting his opponent tire himself out.

Calzaghes edges it because he did face a few more fighters from outside the domestic/euro scene than Eubank did.

Not to bash Eubank but if he hadnt had such an amazing chin in his youth, he would never have beaten Benn and Watson.

    Eubank by some distance.

The likes of Watson at his aggressive best, Benn at his best twice - far more dangerous than Reid or Woodhall or Brewer or Mitchell, an overhyped Lacy, onedimensional Kessler, old Hopkins or old Jones. Then there's Malinga at his best, still better than Reid, Woodhall, Brewer or Mitchell or Lacy. Rocchigiani at his best - better than Kessler. Lindell Holmes - more dangerous than Hopkins and Jones. Tony Thornton for me was a slight slice over Mitchell or Brewer, and Watson at his technical best was streets ahead of Woodhall.

This is no contest. You'd need to be a little deluded to make a strong case for Calzaghe over Eubank.

still takes more effort mentally and physically to stay in the top ten physically, than it does to do it for 5 or 6.

Allowing for top ten because its unfair to say they were number 1 when you own a title that is barely recognised or wanted by anyone. Its much harder to be number 1 without dispute in the division than it is to own a title noone really good wants.
