He performed just about as well as I expected.Doesn't make him a bum though.
It says far more about the state of the middleweight division but I still thought Jnr did as well as could be expected. He was solid.
And I put my hands up,I used to hate Jnr but he's getting some respect from me now.

It's hard to look good against a fighter that can't be knocked out. Jr. evidently has his father's thick skull. (and props to Jr. for seeming to gain new skills with every fight. I'm begrudgingly becoming a fan, sort of.)

Lee has very good technique (though his jab was horrible Sat night) but he just doesn't have the power to beat Jr. That's really the whole story.

La Maravilla will be a different story, if he hasn't slowed too much.

    Agreed.

Jr just outmuscled him, wouldn't slow down and Lee didnt have the pop to deter him from basically wading in and going to work on him. Simply put Chavez was too strong for him. Doesn't make Lee a bum. There are a lot of fighters out there thT Chavez is too strong for at MW.

He tried man, he really tried. It's easy to say from the comfort of your couch but he was moving and jabbing early on but Chavez' size was too much for him. He kept coming forward and hit him with huge shots and still couldn't budge the dude.

Credit where it's due, I'm no fan of Jr, but that was a strong performance against a credible opponent. You have to give him respect, he's improving with every fight. Though I think Sergio will clown him if they ever fight

I tihnk he tries, but he just doesn't have the stamina to keep up that style. .

It's very taxing to use your feet, move around the ring a lot, all while popping the chain, and stopping every now and hten to sit down on some power punches. . . He doesn't have the physical attributes like Wladimir Klitschko to just be able to tie you up everytime you get close either. .

I've always said, if Lee had a bit more of a punch, or better stamina, and faster feet, he'd be very hard to beat. . . But he slows down visibly after each round - you can literally see his jab output drop by like 10 each round, after round, until the 5th when he was just throwing like 10 jabs, then the 6th, and 7th he wasn't throwing any.

And this. . . You have to give CHavez his cerdit now. . It's impossible not to. He was a TANK in there. . . Impossible to budge even with clean left hands from Lee.

Yeah, he can crunch his massive frame down to 160, and still rehydrate strong as a bull. . . but that's part of hte game, and he's a master at it.

It's crazy how much bigger and stronger he was to Lee. Lee is a tall dude but Chavez frame was so much thicker.

I remember Lee hitting him with a 4 punch combo clean to face and Jr just looked at him and smiled. Vhanes Moritsan said the same thing when they sparred that Jr's chin is unreal. He got the from his daddy.

    Yessir! :good

I personally think Sergio is going to be in for a rude awakening if he thinks he's going to easily pick Chavez apart. . . Sergio is very hittable, especially if you can close that space he likes to maintain with his fast feet.

If Chavez eats Sergio's best shots, closes that gap, then he might end up having nightmares of hte night ten years ago when Margarito became his papĂ

And as far as Lee, this isn't nearly the end for him. . . Chavez is likely going up to 168 after Martinez, win or lose. . .

I distinctly remember Steward saying about a potential Lee/Martinez fight: "I really think Lee can beat Sergio with basic boxing; I'm not worried about anybody outboxing Lee, the only type of guy I think Lee has problems with is a strong, aggressive guy with inside fighting tendencies" (PARAPHRASING, of course)

To me, this quote was very foretelling. . .

BUt if i were him, I'd get a strength and coniditioning coach. . . He HAS to improve his stamina.
