Why do people all of a sudden thing Chavez will **** it in against Martinez?

    I just dont get it.

At the start of his career, JCC Jr was seen as a bit of a joke just cashing in on his old man's name, but its fairly clear at this point that the guy can really fight. Being ****ing enormous at the weight is certainly helping, but he's certainly a really good pressure fighter.

Thing is though, Sergio has very quick feet, very quick hands, a solid chin and definitely has pop. Almost more importantly though, he is very very composed in the ring and can definitely think on his feet - ie a high ring IQ.

All of a sudden though, the general forum almost seems to be talking about what Chavez will do after he beats Sergio, and that its just Sergio bolstering his retirement fund. I just can't see it. Surely Maravilla has to be a decent favorite to win this fight?

Is it just general forum idiocy or am I really missing something here? IF by fight time Martinez is anything like evens in this fight, Im definitely chucking a load of cash on him.

I personally think this'll be the fight where Sergio gets old. IMO JCC jr wins a UD and makes a real name for himself.

He's been kept well away from boxer types since Zbik almost beat him. I can see Martinez being put under some pressure with Chavez's body attack and volume punching but eventually winning a close UD through good solid counter punching and that wicked left hook. Chavez Jnr can't get too busy against Martinez either, he'll have early success no doubt but will soon be made to miss, and then to pay.

Chavez size, power and chin give him a decent shot to win.

Marvella has been operating at a higher level.

I'm a fan of Andy Lee but he was really unproven.

I still expect MArtinez to win this.

Martinez is pretty ****ing massive himself, I don't think the size advantage would help Julio so much in this one, considering Martinez is faster, more accurate and a harder one shot puncher. I don't believe for one second that Chavez has what it takes to beat Martinez, and Bob Arum clearly doesn't either.

Sergio will absolutely batter him. It'll be over in 9 or 10.

sergio will stand him on his head and put him away if the moment presents itself.

but sergios age. man it's like a time bomb every ****ing fight. you think it might just tick over and bang goes his speed and composure.

lee is long rangy and southpaw but he doesn't have that snap and agility he can get out the way of the shot just by stepping back but his defense is pretty redundant in his style. lees assets are that he is tall southpaw and doesn't mind stepping in. but he leaves his chin hanging and even though personally i think lee can take a shot well when it's plattered up at some points he just takes the full force of it, gets stung and cant get out of the way of punches. all vera did was just wait to drop that wild right hand. almost happend to him again against mcewen but he just keeps walking and can land if its there...it was and he walked over mcewen in a quarry-zanon performance.

sergio doesnt take that type of punishment.
he doesnt get outworked because he uses his bicycle to bowl around the ring and not get in a position where some will let loose and throw.

the left hand that martinez has is a dangerous weapon, i think it can get around and through the guard of chavez while still being in a position where he can either not be hit or not be unbalanced.

the height is deceptive of chavez. 6'0 is a big solid middleweight but he has a short reach and doesn't choose the longer straight hands. he can but he never tries to do with great effect or commitment.

he can clearly be outboxed. even by guys smaller than him. zbik just threw and jabbed. and i think won. but hadnt watched it for a while...maybe a draw. but 116-112!?!?!? whatever. a jab in his face with some power and threat behind it is a tough spot for chavz to get out the way of.

a chavez plus is the left hook to the right kidney of martinez. an open flank that martinez doesnt cover usuallyand because he is a lefty, that right side is closer to the target...just keep that right hand slap bang on your face or a left cross on the way in is dangerous. but an older guy also weight draining might just over extend his body's capability's and run out of gas if chavez goes to work form the blocks.

vetrancy and ring iq is alllllll for sergio. chavez is a good hitter but his fighting guys that though a challenge and live are there to be heavybags.

I think a lot of people think Chavez is PEDed up and thus has a better chance.

you know iran barkley and g-man were known to cut weight and baloon up, but what chavez does is insane he comes into a middleweight title fight at 180lbs how can u rehydrate your body within 24hrs by that much without taking any performance enhancers.

Martinez is not massive at 160, are you for real..?

Martinez is a 154 pound fighter.

No he's not. He is perfectly comfortable at 160, not at 154. He's had much more success at 160.

How is he a 154 fighter? Floyd can get down to 140 but isn't a LWW fighter. Chambers can get down to 199 but isnt a CW.

He's not a big 160 pound fighter, he is a small 160 pound fighter.

    He could comfortably make 154.

Its common-sense, i don't need to explain myself.
