Firstly,Im a Limerick man,and as the same age as Andy Lee would often see him around, and would even know him in a friend of a friend kind of way, so as such was massively hoping he'd pull it off and become world champ. He didnt. He gave it his all but just came up short.

So on to my main point. Why is everyone making such a big deasl out of JCC jnrs weight gain? Its not exactly uncommon for a fighter to put on a lot of weight between weigh in and a fight!

Clottey was know to regularly put on 20lbs after the weigh in,and he fought at welter!

Ortiz put on 17lbs between weigh in and his fight with Floyd.

Hatton would often weigh in,in the mid 150s after weighing in at 140.

Margarito put on 15lbs after weighing in against Pacquiao.

I could go on and on.

Andy lee himself probably weighed in the 170s for his fight against Chavez.

So why is so much made of the fact that Chavez put on weight? Its not like hes the only guy out there doing it.

The same way Ortiz, Margarito, Pavlik, Clottey, Rios, etc, manage to do it.

Dehydratinga dn rehydrating, coupled with borderline starvation in the days before hand.

    Happy.

Does the fact that dozens of other top class fighters do it,not make it seem that it isnt that crazy?

Well, he failed a drugs test for a diuretic, which is a primarily drug used to help people shed weight, and has also skipped two other post fight drugs tests.

That's a good enough reason to be discussing it in my book.

So it's one thing to be cutting weight if your body can do it naturally, another if you're using banned substances to help achieve it.

I think for most boxfans it's about the way he does it (or might be doing it).

Again he somehow wasn't tested like last time out, and suspicion is he might be using diuretics again to make weight wich he couldn't make with 'normal' dehydration methods.
He's too big for a MW, and that's no problem if he can make weight within the timeframe and in a natural way. But there are huge questionmarks surrounding that.

I understand how to cut weight. that's easy, drinking and eating very little while working out intensely, but how do you put on 20 or more pounds overnight? is it all water weight? is it lots of food and water? i'm not implying that it comes as a result of some banned substance. i'm just curious as to the process by which such a seemingly unnatural and unhealthy feat is achieved.

Ok, agreed, If hes cheating to do it,thats wrong obviously.

But we can all agree, that if hes doing it legally, theres nothing wrong with him weighing 180 on fight night?

We don't know if that's true.

Because according to Dan Rafael, he was tested.

Still waiting to hear more on the issue.

Just the same way but more intensely.

Like Ive said, and provided links to,there people who drop and gain even more weight.

Some people do have it within them to do it. Im not exactly sure how healthy it is in the long run though.

That link I provided showed Thiago Alves(MMA fighter) gaining 30 POUNDS in a few hours after a weigh in once!

its dumb...lots of ppl just dont like JCC Jr and will find the dumbest things to attack him for

many fighters like you said gain large amounts of weight after the weigh in

he isnt a first or a last

yeah he got caught using diuretics but you know in todays boxing with guys on HGH and EPO and other things is this really that bad in comparison

diuretics and bad weight cutting techniques can lead to a down fall eventually it will break down his body or cause him to be sluggish or weak in the ring and he may lose because of it

as much as being huge for his weight is an advantage it could become a serious problem

please stop commenting on the issue man because you've yet to help even remotely answer the question for me. all I want to know is exactly how people do it, not to be given examples of another guy doing it.

You've already answered you own question along with other people doing it!

You dehydrate, you starve yourself and you train intensely. You hit the sauna, some guys carry around bottles and constantly spit into them to lose every last bit of hydration they can. You then re-hydrate, and eat good solid nutritional meals in the 36 hours after the weigh in.

Some people are able to take that to extremes and lose more than others.

I dont know how simple you want this made.

For crying out loud dude, have you never fought and had to make weight??

    Wrestling, boxing, anything??

Im sorry,I just assumed that most people here had at least fought a little bit,and knew the score when it came to cutting weight.

you assumed that most people here had at least fought a little bit? why would you assume that? there are thousands registered here, you think we've all for the most part fought at an amateur or professional level?

anyway, I didnt ask how you cut weight, I asked a simple question, what do you do to gain 20 pounds overnight or in even less time? what do you do?
