Legacies are one of the hardest things to judge a fighter on because I don't think it's simply a name game, especially when you're trying to establish the significance of a victory. But to answer your question, I think both fighters would enhance their legacies, if they'd fight each other, with the victor having the greater legacy. I know that's kind of putting everything in a nutshell, but the soap opera between the two has really become bigger than the sport, and it will be part of both of both fighters legacies. Bout even as it stands right now though.

they are really pretty close...even if one is slightly ahead the other can't be too far behind.....i dont understand why they have to be so far seperated by some....they are the 2 ABSOLUTE best for a reason.

They dont get there by fighting complete white washes of matches.....

The fact that this is even argued is beyond me

Pacquaio has lost during his prime and at the latter end of his career to much lesser fighters than Mayweather has beaten.

Mayweather generally fights the better version of the fighter that Pacquaio has faced (154 Cotto was much better than 145 Cotto, 154 ODLH, etc) and in the case of Marquez, a guy who should have two wins against Pacquaio, Mayweather dominated him so badly that people didn't even consider it a good win for him until he "beat" Pacquaio a few years on (ironically at the weight that everyone said disadvantaged JMM against Floyd)

    Totally agree.

People say one of pac best 3 wins is cotto at a catchweight.

Well floyd just beat cotto at 154 lbs. So that one of floyd top wins to.

People like to say Pac beat a prime marquez which we all know is bull****, one fight was a draw the other pac should have lost. They thought the 3rd fight would do wonders for pac legacy when they fought at WW, yet once again pac lost.

Mayweather schooled marquez at WW for 12 rounds.

Pac has Barerra and Morales as his best 2 wins. I would say this an undefeated p4p Coralles at the time was just as good as a Barerra victory at the time. No one can tell me any different.

We then have pac beating morales having lost the first fight to morales. Morales also lost to lesser opposition before their first fight. So how big really was that win? Why was Pac win against morales bigger than Raheem win over morales?

Money took Corrales, Hatton and Cotto's O. Who 0 Pac take? Nobody worth nothin'. And Money NEVER fought no catchweights on principle AND take the tests AND fight young, hungry lions instead of old toothless ones. So he clean he fight better fighters at their best weight in their primes coming off of spectacular performances and he does higher PPV. Money>Pac. PERIOD.

The moment Pacquaio fights Floyd is the moment people stop running out of excuses to deny a simple fact, Floyd is an ATG and probably GOAT at 130, 135 and in the Top 5 at 140 and 147.

H2H? He's a daunting prospect for anyone prime for prime due to his Ring IQ, Chin, Handspeed, Footspeed, Defensive Ability, Accuracy, Angles and Adaptation.

The idea that Hearns just walks through him makes me laugh.

Yeah, he's pulling closer - mainly due to the Pacquiao's poor Mosley and JMM fights. The Bradley win, however, has for the time being stopped Floyd's momentum in closing up on him.

beating experienced boxing champions by brute force makes pac really greater than floyd with great skills fighting opponents with lower level skills

Funny what weight draining a fighter does isn't it?

Cotto at 154 was an entirely different prospect than Cotto at 145. The other thing to keep in mind is that the "demons" in Cotto's head had been vanquished when he went in there and beat Margarito in the rematch.

Pacquaio beat Cotto after he had been beaten definitively by Margarito and then had a tough fight with Clottey.

Cotto then moves to 154, beats the promising Yuri Foreman, knocks Mayorga out, stops Margarito and then fights one of his best fights against Floyd Mayweather.

Cotto at 154 is a completely different prospect than Cotto at 145.
