Ward's resume is shaping up very well, if he was to beat Dawson (50% chance, Chad is no joke) who else would he have to beat to match or eclipse mayweather, pacquiao, Hopkins, Jones, Leonard's or Hagler's legacies

he needs to be a lot more to match an ATG. Not saying he cant, because hes young enough to do so and hes on the right trajectory, but he hasnt even reached HOFer Calzaghe level yet. That should be his first target, very attainable in a few years but still requires dedication of another level to maintain it for a good spell.

ATGing will inevitably mean either going up to LH early, or more catchweight fights.

   Calm down. Beating Pascal's weight-drained leftovers isn't going to be a huge boost. :rofl Comparing him to Money then?! :rofl

Not as good as it would be if he moved up in weight to fight Dawson, instead of dragging him down.

To be fair, Dawson volunteered to go to 168 when he challenged him. What was he going to say "No, we need to do this at 175"?

It's not Ward dragging Dawson down.. Dawson said that he would fight Ward @168

    The point still stands.

He's going to get less credit if he beats him at a weight he hasn't made in 6 years than if he was to move up and beat him at 175, you would have thought it would have been the natural next step for Ward anyway with him having little competition left at 168 apart from Bute and Dirrell, both he has shown little interest in fighting.

Dawson is a big Light Heavyweight - him coming down to 168 will affect him badly

    True..
But he should still get some credit if he beats Dawson, he said that he could make 168. It would be weird if he made that claim and accepted a @168 if he doesn't believe that he can fight at that weight.

Ward becomes #1 or #2 P4P with a win over Dawson.
Legacy wise... Let's give it a couple years.
    (On his way tho)

AGREED....IF HE BEATS DAWSON HE'S CLEAR #2, if Dawson wins Dawson goes to #3.

unless Ward has a horrible trainwreck over the next couple years he's almost already stamped his HOF certificate, ATG is a diff story. He needs 2 more solid wins like Dawson to crack the top 100, anything more will see him climb further up the list. I could see him being the first SMW to crack the top 50 when alls said and done. I can't stand watching the guy though and personally his personality annoys the hell out of me.

i've read one too many groundless statements about dawson being negatively affected by the fact that he's coming down to 168, groundless because not only did dawson say he can comfortably make 168 and challenge andre ward for his 168 pound belts, but john scully, his trainer, said that he walks around not too far above 175 and can easily make 168 pounds with no problems whatsoever. I think dawson's trainer and dawson himself knows a little bit more about his body than you guys. good luck slighting andre ward before the fight even takes place.

Ward is shaping up to become te best but he can't fight Mayweather so he has to take his time, clean up the divisions in his weight neighbourhood like the SWMs and the LHWs and he is starting with the hardest of them all, a big guy who comes from leftfield and has both skills, speed, coordination and boxing inteligence, maybe he is not at his best weight at 168 and his reflexes may be diminuished somehow but look out, Ward may be getting in hazzard at the start in his route to greatness.Chad learned a lot from his last fight and Wad, certainly a fresh fresh, young gun wont bring nothing new that Chad has not experienced in his last match.
