Canelo vs. Ortiz should NOT be on PPV to begin with. It would be a great HBO Championship fight though. GBP is going to PPV w/ Alvarez waay too soon for his career. He'll be able to avoid certain fighters using the 'he's not known enough' card.

Chavez Jr has headlined far worse PPVs.

Yea it should be, If it was Canelo-Kirkland I'd agree but these are two great, prime fighters, It serves more right then Cotto-Foreman, for example, or Hopkins-Dawson even.

Sure, he's headlined several small level PPV's that TR put on independently. And a couple some that didn't belong on an HBO level PPV. But he's also fought a lot on HBO. ANd now, he's figthing the MW World Champ while Canelo still has NOT fought a top 5 JRMW, and is going to face a current WW, who's had one good win at WW.

    See the difference?

Canelo should be on HBO often, as DLH was back in the day as a rising star. Not being used as a cash cow.

Neither Canelo or Ortiz are close to great. ANd neither really has a major win one would see as great.

Cotto - Foreman should not have been on PPV, but how does that fight justify this one?

Ever consider sometimes one must take a stand against the over usage of a PPVs?

BTW, at least if it was Canelo vs. Kirkland, it's against a legit JrMW who HAS beaten ranked JrMWs. Ortiz has one good wn vs. Berto at 147. Canelo is YET to face a top 5 JrMW himself.

I agree with all of that really.

They will be fools if they try and sell this PPV at 60 or whatever dollars. Prices should fluctuate like back in the 90s depending on who was fighting. I remember Lennox/Holy 1 being like 80 bucks in Canada :ibutt

Then for the lower weight PPV headliners like Barrera/Hamed, that was like $40

I hate PPV in general though and just talking about it makes me cringe.

Victor was not even a WW until about a year ago and has had 2 fights there. Now he is moving up to challenge for the 154 title with NO fights there and people see this as a compelling fight? What happened to earning a title shot at the weight? Narrow decision over Berto having been down twice and a point deducted for fighting dirty. Got chopped down like a tree in his other WW fight while having a point deducted for, AGAIN, dirty fighting. Yeah, Ortiz/Canelo is compelling. Maybe Ortiz will pull another "I deserve to talk good" in this fight and quit when Canelo starts pounding on him..

Would you completely rule him out against Canelo? No way.

It's a fun fight and more intriguing than Canelo vs most of the active JMWs IMO. I'm quite excited for it.

    GBP should back down.

I dont want Top Rank to postpone Chavez jnrs execution

Canelo Ortiz is a good fight, an exciting matchup ..

But it has nothing on Maravilla vs Chavez jr.

So is it the date itself or the date and venue as well?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him quit in this fight. Better disguised than the last time, but none the less, I'd be surprised if he made the final bell. If he proves me wrong then I'll look forward to his next fight with more anticipation. Until then, not excited by this match up.

I wouldn't pay $50 for the other PPV either but Jr's last outing makes it a little more intriguing given I think Martinez is over rated.

We are on the same page. Really, JCCjr vs. Martinez really doesn't need to be PPV either. The Champ isn't that known, and the challenger's biggest test is a guy who's barely top 10 at MW. Guess just how it is these days.

I wouldn't complain about 30-40 PPV, but this $60 **** is just getting out of hand.
