They need to get rid of useless weight divisions like JFW, JLW, JWW, and JMW. Boxers today are bigger then they were in the past, the weight limits needs to stretch a bit more. Welterweight should be 144-152, and LHW should be 173-182. Who really cares about boxers below 120lbs? Bantamweight should be 120-126.
Boxing will never be legit, unless the people in charge of it WANT it to be legit. -and they never will. Arum's call for inquiry just sells more PPV tickets for the rematch. McCain is a junkyard dog, barking for attention 'cause he knows his chain won't come loose. Corrupt commissions investigate corrupt judges. Forum members rant & stomp their feet, and then sheepishly buy the next PPV event anyway. - and the mob continues to get rich. Same as it ever was, same as it always will be. The end.
you said it... people who make lots of money will keep things they way they are... people who dont make money need to step up and stop feeding the beast. we are all pissed about it (or most of us) but we dont really care to do anything about it and that is just too bad.
i am just the little guy... i had to google who Eddie Hearn is that's how much i know about the promotional business of boxing but if i see a good idea that will save a sport i love to watch i will make sure people will hear about it.
Lol, unless you were a boxer, I don't think this claim has much water. For one, most of the lower weight classes are home to international fighters fighting just to make some money to feed their families. More competitors isn't hurting anyone. People already don't pay attention to them, so it's not like the tv is exploding with too many matches. I just see it as someone saying they don't care about what your job does so they just hack it.
Whatever changes need to be made, a team format is NOT one them. One of the reasons I've been a life long fan is the individualistic aspect of the sweet science. There are plenty of team sports for all of those who like to follow those types of sports. I personally don't care fir any of them.

Shorter, more action packed bouts - Demenes the value of stamina, strategy, possibly skill? Prizefighter tournaments do this to a degree (Eddie Hearn) Patented point system - Not sure what this involves Team format - They do this in the amateurs World cup & world individual championships - Basically the Olympics does this for amateurs Endorsements - This happens already? Integrity - Something we can only wish for Competitive matches - In an ideal world yes, but these cant always be guaranteed, prospects need experience working their way up, competiveness can't be guaranteed in many sports. Senior corporate management team - They would probably be corrupt too, who appoints them etc. Continuity of programming - Not sure what this entails exactly Major advertiser event sponsorship and support - Already happens to a degree? Seems nice in an ideal world, but these points seem more applicable to the amateur game than the professional one. Could you imagine Arum, Oscar, the commissions etc. going for this? Of course not As somebody said, the system doesn't need such radical change, its the people over it and the regulations that are all centered on making money for the top dogs that need changing. Probably the only way they would change things and potentially make real moves towards increased integrity is if people stopped buying PPV's in protest.
It's actually like a Zombie movie. No matter how bad they are,we keep watching them. But in reality,compared to the 1950's,boxing is pure and decent. Most of the fights are clean without controversy.
