Is it time for the rest of us to follow suit?

I personaly think it is overdue.

My bias for american fighters is way too strong to even consider giving him any type of credit, unfortunately.

Wlad has been the man for quite a while.

Not unless he fought Vitali, who I personally think would win, therefore Vitali would be the lineal champ. All in my opinion of course.

By no means every lineal championship lineage has been started by a fight between the #1 and #2.

There would certainly be historical prescident for Wlad becoming champion without fighting Vitally.

    Special circumstances with that.

Wladimir has fought and beat far more rated opposition of his time and that's all he can do. There isnt really any other individual fighter he could beat that suddenly makes him the best of his era. He already is, linear things be damned. Vitali gave it up with his retirement.

To me, retirement ends the lineage. Vitali shouldn't be able to not fight for four years, come back and beat one of the guys Volo already beat for a strap and it's like he never left, reign only continuing. I mean, hey, Vitali's career hasn't been lucky, legacy-wise, but it still stands that Volo was dominating the division for years while Vitali was retired.

Whilst :)yep) I'm actually a fan of linear titles most instances, there are times when there are certain issues. Like when it doesn't fit my agenda. Really though...Just who recognizes George Foreman as the best Heavyweight in the world from 1994-97? Or Michael Spinks from 1985-88?

"Lineal champion" and "best heavyweight in the world" are two verry different things.

No disagreement there, although the two can, have and should be one and the same in most instances. It's certainly preferable. The only requirement to be fulfilled is that he's reasonably active and fighting predominantly world rated opposition IMO.

Being considered "The Man" in this HW wasteland is not worth arguing over IMO

    That's a myth.

It's just that the top two are so far ahead of the rest.

Recently, we saw two of the top five not named Klitschko, and it was a competitive, decent bout, if a poor decision.

Both had earlier been KO'd by a Klitschko, without winning a single round.

Not only the contenders makes it a wasteland but the fact that the top 2 guys by a mile have never and will never come close to fighting.

    It's a wasteland.

The concept of the lineal champ is so much hocus pocus bull**** I'm suprised the Catholic Church didn't invent it.

I have consider Wlad the champ for a while now. I kinda of shock CBZ has finally recognised him, since there pretty anti Wlad. But if they give him the title, that saids something.
