I disagree with your positioning here. Throughout the last century of sports and competition PEDs have been used. Maybe not as 'seemingly' impactful as some of the latter day PEDS, but surely enough to be significant 'performance enhancers'. Amphetamines are banned now, but weren't then and they weren't taking them in critical situations like flying jets in war because they didn't have any enhancing effects. You don't know what those athletes/fighters were taking since we didn't have the stigma with drugs then as we do now, but in likelihood they were taking whatever would keep them in the ring and enhance any talent they already had.

 

Because the effective application of PEDs isn't largely determined by how much one takes, but rather what is provided in with the greatest efficacy. Not everyone responds to various actives in the same manner. Understanding body homeostasis and how to integrate effective application of PEDs, functional exercise and diet into that great big feedback system we call the human body is far more critical towards an athletes/trainers. success.

Who's "they"? You mean some cheaters? I don't care if it was even a majority or most of the athletes in a given sport at a given time...that clean minority that always exists, they DO have the moral high ground and deserve to be lauded for their honest efforts more than anyone who knowingly gains an unfair advantage (whether "against the rules" at the time or not) - and **** anyone who says otherwise.

So because the 13 substances were only effective to varying degrees, it isn't a big deal that there were ****ing thirteen of them?
