Why do people hate on/dislike Amir Khan?

He is slightly overrated, but that's not his fault. A lot of people have hyped him up, and he's on the other end of it. I know he comes out and says some cringey things at times, but does he really deserve the hate he gets? I'm sure there's been lots of young boxers who have been overconfident, and it's come off as cocky, arrogant etc. You get people talking about him in a bad way, and saying "hope he gets knocked out" etc, which I think is harsh on the guy.

Anyway, why is he disliked so much?

There's nothing wrong with being cocky/arrogant - if you can pull it off in the right way.

With Khan, he just has a habit of sticking his foot in his mouth. He can say the stupidest things at the stupidest of times. Just not that intelligent, unfortunately. That's his main crime, in my opinion. Just too naive/stupid/unaware of how off-putting he can be with the words he chooses in interviews.

That may be the case with some people. But the rest dislike him for the reasons stated.

I don't, he is just severely flawed as a fighter to be competing at the level is he is.

He is far too arrogant for someone who has done very little in the sport.

    Don't be stupid!

All muslims don't fall into that category....just like all germans don't hate jews and all christians don't support slavery...or all catholics touch little boys!

Maybe he is not popular on these boards but so far, I haven't disliked him. I like him. I think more so because I followed his interviews from ESNEWS. He doesn't seem like a bad guy. Now, my opinion can change but so far...I don't have a problem with him.

The Maidana fight alone should give him some respect. Tough fight.

Maybe, but sometimes I think fighters have to put themselves in a state of "character" (other than what they may have been originally) that allows them to feel almost Godlike in order to succeed beyond even their original expectations.

It's hard to say. I don't know the guy personally.

I thought I had the perfect answer without getting nasty, but Rico's just about covered everything.
Slightly more specifically,I dislike his desire to fight long faded legends, but I'm just getting picky because Rico's grafted my thunder here.:|

Nahh.. maybe for some people - but not for me..

I just hate his arrogance. Not a fighters' arrogance in general, but KHAN'S arrogance.

When commenting on fights, all you ever hear him do is talk about himself, and how 'this guy doesn't wanna fight me'... 'that guy doesn't wanna fight me'...

    etc..etc..

And some of the **** he comes out with is just downright garbage.

He's a good fighter. Not great. (though no doubt, he will be soon). But he talks as though he's the best ever.

I still support him (he's a Brit) - But a lot of his hatred he jsut brings upon himself with the bull**** he comes out with. It's not even a laugh along, or laugh AT HIM kinda bull****. It's more of a Shut the **** up bull****.
