Klitshkos have no inside game. Wlads chin sucks. Wlad is getting stopped by Bowes uppercuts once Bowe walks him down. Vitali doesnt have the power to hurt Bowe, and Vitali would get manhandled and cut up on the inside. Bowe has a superior chin, inside game, heart, comprable jab, better punch repertoire. When your boy got opened up by Lennox Lewis, Lewis was over the hill. This is a prime Bowe. Wlad has fear in the ring, Bowe has no fear, no love, no shot of losing here. Do you ever Type different ****, or just paste the same **** over and over again. Bowe never got stopped. Both Klitchkos have gotten stopped in devastating fashion, get off their dicks already. Theres 100a plus years of heavyweight greatness.
Bowe really only had half an inside game and it was an entirely misguided game for a 6-5, 80 inch reach guy. Why did he constantly give up his advantages of height and reach to engage in close where he had NO defense? He was a flawed fighter out of the gate. Ergo his underwhelming and short career at the top.
I don't think I'd call him "unimpressive" -- Judged against what standard, Top 10 ATG Heavyweights? You properly got on another poster for underestimating what it takes to be considered a world rated contender. Well, Bowe managed to be considered amongst the top 3 for five consecutive years in a decidedly strong heavyweight era. His win against Holyfield is one any would love to have on their resume especially considering he was all but peaked for the most-part. It legitimizes him, size be damned. I put most of the blame on Rock Newman for Bowe scarcely fighting top rated opposition, pretty much leaving his legacy cut to ribbons. You could say his lack of dedication hurt him, but he was formidable even when out of shape.
If Bowe can goad the Klitschkos into slugfests, he'll win. I think the Klitschkos have the outside advantage and could win by UDs. Bowe certainly capable of stopping them both inside the distance but I'd lean towards the Klitschko brothers.
"Unimpressive" is a bit of overstatement in reaction to the overstatement by some of Bowe's abilities and accomplishments. I was firmly aboard the Bowe-train back in the day but he had some major holes in his game than were never cured. I was really disappointed in the Coetzer fight and his early defenses after Holy I. It was obvious he was built for no duration.
I think that's a little steep. He was a decent big man who could fight well on the inside off the ropes. Not having Lewis, Ruddock, Tyson, Mercer, Bruno on his resume hurts his status because these fights could have been made when he wore the belts. I think old man Larry Holmes at that time if I'm not mistaken even wanted a shot at him but Bowe chose not to get in the ring with him either.
That's fair. I kind of figured it was because it's rare to see you be that harsh on a fighter with Bowe's natural attributes and talents. He's frustrating for a variety of different reasons, and I don't disagree as far his flaws and at times ridiculous lack of common sense. His title defenses against Ferguson and Dokes were pitiful selections, even if Jesse is one of my favorite journeymen. :verysad
