The kid has proved he can fight, so why not feed him the top fighters for once? Look at Tyson, Champion at 20 years old, and he still fought the top fighters during his younger years. Why are they continually giving Canelo old men to fight? He needs to step up and continually face top 10 opposition. Why would you not want to fight the best at a young age, win, and retire early from boxing? Instead of drag your career out!
Well that's what suppose to happen with the September bout against Ortiz. He's just clearing up the division and using fighters like Mosley as a stepping stone
because the old men are usually better known? because beating old men with names is how young fighters get known?
This. Plus high reward little risk in fights like Moseley, they want to build him up. They were still playing it safe with Ortiz, having him move up in weight, he's easy to hit and has a questionable chin. No way Ortiz was going to beat him, would have been a good Banger for 6 rounds until he got ko'ed.
He gave up his "isnt ready" excuse after he got the belt. Plus Ortiz-Canelo wouldve been PPV? How money hungry are his team? Guy is a fighter so he should fear none and fight who he possibly can. Much credit when he does just, when?
Relax? His team should've relaxed before allowing him to get a legit belt. Can't give him a pass and I believe in him to do well against top opponents. If he doesn't oh well but I'll give him his due for stepping up. Once you have a legit belt you get targeted and need to fend off challengers and fight who you can thus shutting up critics. If he's so good he'd do that. 4play? Nah. I'll **** her like a dawg!
It's not the first or last time this has happened... Look at Felix Sturm for example dude had been squatting on the MW title for what seems like a century already... Where is the outrage? Remember Berto, that WBC run he had was one of the worst championship runs of all time. I understand where you are coming from and I agree with you. Alvarez definetly needs to step it up now, but GB ain't gonna allow it. (Waiting on that Floyd match)
I have no problem with Alvarez's competition so far, its just annoying he holds a belt. So ridiculous. What was his amateur record like, does anyone know?
I've criticized Sturm and Berto before. Floyd is still too much for him now but if he wants that fight fine. Too big of a leap though now and like I said I'll give him credit for taking risks regardless. Needed ones is all I'm asking for though. Still doing her like a dawg lol.
He's 21, and he's a star. They tried to give him Williams and Kirkland and Ortiz. Those are not old men. None of that worked out. They are stepping up his competition slowly but surely. Remember, boxing is a business first thing, they are making the most money with the least risk along the way, and he is getting better and better each fight. Once people accept and understand the business part of boxing and learn some patience, they will be way better off. This kid has plenty of time for big fights in front of him, they don't all have to happen NOW.
