Victor Ortiz suffered a fractured sturnum

He's not a quitter. No fan can call ANY fighter a quitter. But Ortiz does have a very low boxing IQ. He does stupid stuff in the ring and just doesn't seem to be maturing mentally as a fighter nor taking his job seriously enough. Which is a shame as he's very talented.

Medical reports should have been out by now if he was treated last night. I was skeptical at the time given Ortiz's history.

I was thrilled to see Ortiz lose, but dude was spitting a tremendous amount of blood, I mean it was way to much blood to simply have been a bitten tongue or cut lip.

I will say it sounds like Vic needs to start drinking more milk, or at least take calcium vitamins. Because if Lopez broke his jaw and sternum it sounds like his bones are getting brittle.

 

It was a GREAT fight both Lopez and Ortiz put on and the right thing was done. I have to say, whats shameful is all these non-glove lacing bitches in here.

 

I'm not a doctor...but what I do know is that Ortiz was trying to get out of that fight way before he actually quit. The blatant rabbit punch, in front of the ref, was an attempt to get DQ'd in my opinion. After that, he hit Lopez at least 5 more times behind the head. He wanted to "quit" but didn't want to have to quit, so he went to blatant fouls...when that didn't work, he quit and blamed injuries. Dude has zero heart...

 

Just said this in another thread. You could stop and see him think about it.

 

Agreed 100% and thats exactly what we saw in Los Angeles last night, as soon as we saw that Blatant pushing Lopez down holding him then clearly hitting him behind the head.

I was like this ****ing kid is looking for a way out, what the **** then he was almost targeting the back of Lopezs head from that point on with that looping wide right hook.


its almost as if like you said he was looking for a way out and when all else failed and he found himself in a tough fight he had to go about it another way. its like I said he very well may have broken that jaw in that final round.

But the way I see it, he didnt even try, I mean most fighters would go back to their corner, let their corner know the situation, the corner then adjust the game plan focusing on protecting the injury buying time and scoring points winning rounds in another way.

Victor did not even try to do that, he went back told Garcia his jaw was broken, asked him to stop the fight, and when Garcia was trying to calm him down and hand him instructions Victor stood up told the ref his jaw was broken, asked the ref if he could stop the fight, and it was so....

Whats ****ed up, you can see Victor ask the ref "Are you gonna stop it?" the ref waives off the fight and Victor you can see him say "Thank you":verysad

 

He's got 17 kos and decent opposition. Before everyone gets all pissy at victor I'd like to see the rematch.

 

Didn't care much for that back of the head shot. It was blatantly intentional. He paused before doing it and continued to hit behind the head when close. He should have been disqualified. Good thing it didn't come to that. Ortiz is a nice guy but once he's frustrated, he resorts to cheap tactics. Funny thing is when he did it against Floyd, he got KOd. He did it against Lopes, he got broken jaw.

 

Ortiz doesn't have the mental strength for this lark,but he doesn't deserve any of the **** he's copping.If it turns out he's uninjured(haven't seen any confirmation) then yes,but that blood looked congealed at one stage.That was a bad one.
No surprise some armchair ATG's who woulda fought Hagler,Duran,Hearns and Leonard all in the one night for no money so the fans would be happy have come out and slaughtered him.
Victor's heart is suspect,but he looked badly hurt to me.Maybe he doesn't belong in boxing,but I always think of the first time I sparred when I see people calling boxers cowards.It's ****in hard graft and you don't think straight,especially when you're toiling badly and everyone can see it.I'd struggle to finish a minute and a half with a broken jaw,far less four rounds.
Point is,99% of posters would be the same.Just don't like to think they would.And that's why Victor doesn't belong at the top level of boxing,because he's just too normal.He probably did want out,but no one who's fought at the level he has,and the way he does deserves to be called a coward.
And if it's proved he's uninjured I'll be due pelters,but I reckon he was.

 

Are you being sarcastic? Maybe he has a family and doesn't wanna kill himself for a ****ing sport. I agree Ortiz is too weak for elite level and will likely fail in boxing at this level.

 

I'd love to see a 2nd war, Not sure who'd win but i'd think Ortiz.
