Some people need to be shouted at and others don't. A Great Teacher should know this: Everyone responds differently. A great teacher will figure out why his student is responding to one thing and not the other. He must peel away the layers to understand and then rebuild.

I remember watching a program on Vince Lombardi and that got seemed to yell all the time to push his players...and it worked, for most of them. But not all responded to this and he knew it because he had a better understanding of the psychology of people and how it varies. He had players that he basically coddled and they performed to their peak levels.

You have to know when to push and when to pull back with certain people. Some work well with negative reinforcement, others with positive, and others with a little of both depending on "when."

Victor trains extremely hard so you know the capability is there. Now you just have to figure out how to guide him better.

Sometimes the Puppet Master has to make it feel like the Puppet feels he is in control and doing it because he wants to.
Some women are good at this with men.

Teddy is the wrong mix for Vic, he is too harsh take a look at the mental toll it put on Michael Grant, Victor is not the type of guy who can deal with being criticized like that and Teddy will do it on Camera in public.

Victor needs to just retire, Boxing is not in him anymore

Tyson was taught and he was completely ****ed up when he arrived in Catskill.

The way Tyson talked about it makes you think damn...D'Amato wsa a guru.

Tyson even said he purposely tried to get Cus to get rid of him by basically being a downer and having no confidence. But Cus would turn it around and make it a positive.

Basically..."You feel like a Coward...Good, Cowards are dangerous"

But overall, yeah, I would agree that it takes the individual to find his purpose. Some can and some can't.

Almost like you guys have been reading Flatlander's posts. Ortiz hasn't changed since is training in Kansas.

You do not need to read Flatlanders post in order to string it together.... Maidana, Mayweather, and here this.....

However I have seen his post and usually have given Victor the benefit of the doubt, usually when I read a former trainers opinion I do not buy too much into it especially if its a negative type comment.

Reason well we all know Trainers get bitter when their fighters find other trainers and have every right to, keep in Mind Cintrons former conditioning coach has also been here but hurt and trash talking the kid.

Roach doesn't seem a reliable trainer to teach defense. That's Ortiz's big flaw from a technical stand-point.

How about a Mayweather like Jeff ?

Ortiz is too sensitive to be trained by them

    That's why I said Jeff.

Roger and Floyd Sr. would give him that look and say, "Maaaaaaan...WTF is wrong with you boy."

Cintron is another one that we have the insight of an insider on. CHEF pretty much laid out how Cintron would quit in training if it got rough. CHEF would always give Cintron credit for being very talented and that got him as far as he went.

Even though Ortiz doesn't like Floyd, it might actually be beneficial for him to be in his gym and around that environment. He would have to forget the rematch but have to see it as a way to rejuvenate his career since he is still young although if he keeps going in this direction he'll be another burnt out boxers in his 20's. Ortiz "may" be someone that can feed off that vibe instead of being the person that "may" keep pushing outside influences away.

Who knows. Hard to say when you really don't know the guy or what's going on.

Yep. CHEF knew him for the period he trained under Stewart. CHEF had no 'dog in the fight' when it comes to Cintron. Just offered his first hand observations.
