I know Ortiz is catching some flak, but I can't fault him

It's one thing to fight with a shoulder injury, or a cut, etc. A broken jaw is, IMO, the worst thing to get. You are getting punched on a broken jaw after the break, over and over and over. I am sorry, but I think people need to lay off on him here. I mean, I cringe when I think of a fighter whose jaw is broken already, and they get nailed with a hay-maker. Disgusting. This is something I would overlook if he gets a rematch with Lopez and beats him.

I know what you mean but he has history. If it was the first time he pulled anything like this people would probably label him smart. But winning with only three rounds left to fight surely he could have eeked it out.

I know he did it with Maidana, but that was str8 up ***** ****. I think this is much more severe. I don't like quitters in boxing (Vitali against Byrd is a good example), but this is a broken ****ing jaw. I am sorry, it's got to be one of the worst, if not the worst, injuries that can happen in the middle of a fight.

Most of the people on this site have never been in a ring before. They label anyone who loses a hypejob and anyone without a cast iron beard glass chinned.

Getting caught like that with your mouth open is ****ing nasty no doubt look at Lewis Rachman.

Rahman had a a nice sized gash opened up by his mouth. Gross. If I EVER boxed, my mouth will be closed at all times. I really wanna find a gym and learn. Always wanted too. Still young enough to try.

i meant the first fight Lewis got caught with his mouth wide open and it was good night vienna! You already learned something useful and try not to get clocked with your jaw open.

A nice uppercut to an open mouth is always gruesome.

oh man just getting socked in the jaw after a day of sparring(left my mouth open, boiled my mouthguard wrong), my jaw was clicking for 2 weeks and couldnt chew for a week. I can't even imagine a broken jaw. People have standards too high.

it doesnt take much to break a jaw with your mouth open, thats why i now wear a double mouthguard to force me to bite haha im honestly scared as **** to go back to a single.

Try counting how many punches you can land on a punching bag just in 15 seconds. Ortiz wasn't a punching bag yet, but 9 minutes is a LONG ass time when you've got a world class boxer punching you right in the ****ing face when your jaw is broken.

i know i couldn't fight three rounds with a broken jaw but i could name loads of boxers that have in the past including heavyweights.

Im not hating on the boy i'm just giving reasons for the outcry against him.

What if his pain tolerance isn't as good as theirs? Or was his break more severe?
