Sort of a grade "B" Chuvalo chin-wise..I agree with you though LittleRed...he does have the left hook from hell. He was discouraged by LL..imagine him vs Ali, Holmes & my man Jimmy Young..vs Young, he would have had to visit a shrink afterwards..if he thought Byrd was a riddle, lol.
Corbett-184 (167) Gardiner-168 (168) Dempsey-147.5 (150.5) the wins are great based off the quality of the fighters (well corbett and dempsey, don't know much about gardiner) but the 3 division win is a bit misleading considering how close in size the fighters were between the divisions (only 36.5 pounds seperated middle from heavy) and fitz was as big or bigger naturally than dempsey and gardiner.
The second Ali-Frazier fight was a good bout. I know this goes against the grain. Not as good as I & III but pretty good.
Yeah, I must agree, RC. Tua would feel about as crushed after his victory over Young as anyone felt for getting a victory over Young. He would be horribly dispirited, indeed. Right good call, that.
By some yes he is EXTREMELY overrated i've seen people put him in the top 5 p4p. Jeffries is the most unproven of all heavyweight champions and I believe even the likes of Chuvalo (who gets way underrated) would beat him over 15. There is no name on Louis' list of opponents that would even hint he could beat a Holmes or Ali.
For his run at the title and title victory, James J Braddock was a really good fighter and would have been a difficult night for almost anyone.
He was always my favourite of the trio. But ultimately the facts seem to prove that Eubank was better.
