SBW. coming back to league. FINISHED AS A BOXER? coming back in 2013 to play for the chooks reportedly. where does that leave his 'boxing career'? just another SBW sideshow? a respected boxing authority reconed he had the goods to be world class. so why RL for pennies, when big $$ becon in boxing?
Would be good to see him back in League. Roosters could do with a bit of fire power up front this year :good
Word has it he wants in his contract with Roosters that he can play a handfull of rugby games in Japan for a truck load of cash and something about a fight in South Africa towards end of this year sometime or early next year, so i maybe his boxing career isnt dead and buried. Is expected to sign a one year contract in next week or so...
The kids management is smart as long as he stays healthy, everybody wants him that's why he is signing only 1yr contracts and dictating terms for as much money as possible. He is milking 3 sports at once which is unprecedented. He will do this for another 2-3yrs then sign a big 5yr contract once he knows his body has had it and performances start to slow.... Probably around the 29/30yr mark.
I would hardly call what he did in boxing a "boxing career". It was just a manufactured sideshow farce.
he wants a one year contract with the cocks, able to box as well, & then he still wants to be able to go back to Rugby for the world cup, the **** doesnt want much does he?? I'm glad the rorters are prepared to subsidise his sideshow, it makes a mockery of all three sports, having said that, if he can get away with it, all power to him, but it wouldnt surprise me if League officialdom stepped in & asked for some kind of further commitment, i dont know if it sends the right message as far as league is concerned for a player to just waltz in for a one year stint & then just **** off to union so he can play world cups
I don't see why not..... who the **** are the NRL to tell a club who they can and can't play on a yearly contact?? Obviously if the bloke in question has some sort of criminal past there may be a case, but aside from criminal matters **** the NRL and that loser David Gallop..... glad he was turfed, too many restrictions and regulations ffs
I'm pretty sure being able to take a few fights each year will be part of the contract like it was in union. Now the world cup is over I guess he wants one more crack at league before going into boxing full time.
lets face it, he's got form on walking out on contracts The NRL are entitled to look after their image as a sporting organisation in a competitive atmosphere, its yet to be determined if they see it as a good look for a bloke to be coming in for one year & then heading back to Union, but like i said, if he can get away with it & maximise his earnings good luck to him. I imagine if he had telegraphed what his intentions were & wanted to come to Souths for one year, the members would be up in arms & be complaining & protesting to club management, the fans are entitled to feel a player is going to be there for a period of time & invest in the culture not just in it for a quick buck, as far as the Roosters are concerned they will happily lap it up as they are that kind of club
